I have a fixed blade knife with no scales and its not skeletonized and I would like to wrap with paracord. Any help on how to do this would be great, especially pictures.

Thanks

Here's a pair that I cord wrapped.

The smaller knife is a CRKT Hawk K-AT that was recently given to me. I thought the handle and sheath a bit bulky for a necer and I'm seting this up as a pack strap knife formy BOB. It had holes in the blade so I did a weave between a double wrap of paracord sheath. I used a dab of superglue at each end to keep it in place.

The larger knife is my Newt Livesay NRGS that has been a constant companion on many trips. This is just a straight wrap using just the sheath as well. This cuts down on the bulk of the handle and makes a better wrap IMO. Mac

Some of the stuff "Ranger Rick" writes is pretty opinionated but still you can learn from the stuff on his website. I just posted the wrap procedure and that was it.

The Strider Knives page used to have a tutorial on how to re-wrap their handle.

Niice Pict, do you have any problems with the wrap becoming loose over time?

I have a Newt Livesay Woo with the handle wrapped like that and it has one tour in Iraq and it still hasnt came loose. Wish I knew how to wrap like that

Following the link:....."And nope, I ain't one of those "knife freaks" neither who carry more than one blade to the field. But whenever I do go deep into the boonies ......."

Oh yeah, well theres at least two blades on his Swiss Army Knife, whatta freak,

RANGER = LIGHT INFANTRY with emphasis on being light. Some guys saw more than one knife as extra weight.

Most of the things a soldier will do in the field with a knife can be accomplished with a SAK, Leatherman and a larger blade such as a Ka-bar. Digging and chopping chores are relagated to the E-Tool. Vehicles have mounted Pioneer kits that include an axe, pick and large shovel.

I routinely only carried a Ka-bar, SAK Tinkerer and a Gerber multi-tool. Sometimes I'd also carry a bayonet.

Just a warning about paracord for handles.

If you use the knife for fish or game , etc the paracord will soak up blood etc , this can make you sick so be careful.
i.e. food poisoning.

I have to agree its very opinionated and I dont like how he refers to the rich people as always fat and lazy. They worked their asses off to get there.

back to topic - But the style of wrapping he shows is what i use. You can try the Peter Atwoods way if it has two holes. Just search for it on youtube.

:o Where is my duct tape? No, not for the blade. For my fingers! I'll re-wrap my necker in a few days when my fingers heal. I knew the sucker was sharp but... Maybe I should do it with the sheath on?:)
