I have only seen this knife on video. The mechanism to open and close it intrigues me. Does anyone own one and is it a safe and robust mechanism. They do not seem to be cheap knives from the prices I found.

I have a dreddlock or the tanto version. cool knife. well made. handles have a tiny bit of play when opened and locked..... but once open and in hand blade does not move. its hard to explain.....

It seems to be a safe and robust mechanism. Like Mr. Monkey said there is some play in the handles, but, the blade does not move. Mine has a faint rattle open or closed. There are a few versions, I have the aluminum handle version. There is a titanium handled version as well. I'm not sure what kind of finish it has but it begins to show wear on the buttons that are on either side. It is a double edged gravity knife and likely illegal many places if you care about that. Overall, it is well built, quality materials, unique mechanism for sure, and no maintenance, however it lacks practicality and is big and boxy in the pocket.

They usually run $250 USD and are mechanically very sound. They require little lube or effort although there is a learning curve. The handles and blade play a little, but not much. The blade is also completely enclosed when it is shut and it will never open when you don't want it to. To open it you have to use your thumb and a finger to push the buttons while flicking your wrist down and out (toward your center) and releasing the buttons at the peak of the swing. (I'm bad at explaining things)

P.S. - The tip is razor sharp out of the box and it only took me about 15 minutes to cut myself
