Which controller do I need to heat treat 01 and D2 steel - the Sentry 3 key or the Sentry 12 key? I would like to keep things as simple as possible while maximizing the potential of primarily 01 steel and on a limited basis D2 steel.

thank you in advance,

I don't know much about Paragons - I have an evenheat and like having the extra button controller, but it is NOT necessary.

Off topic question: how do you plan to control decarb on the O1? I was planning to wrap in foil, but I can't get it out of the packet in time to quench with full harden, and I hate grinding off decarb...

Gas Injection, bead blast, grind it off or leave it as is.

You are making this knife making stuff much too complicated. Knife making is simple. I'd use a camp fire or a torch.

I guess you can make it fancy and difficult if you choose to though.

You are absolutely right! I am still looking for a 1 key controller that "Tony" can operate when I am attending knife making skool;-)
