Calling this a review might be a little misleading because I didn't actually use the hawk. I saw pictures on the net and Dave Canterbury's Youtube ad and I was very interested. I was looking for a relatively lightweight hammer pole hawk with a bit more blade than the CS Trailhawk. Since I don't need much of an excuse to buy a new hawk I kept an eye out and was lucky enough to get one while there were "30" available on his site.

I have to say that this is the best fit and finish hawk I have ever handled. Most of mine have been ruggedly forged and left that way on purpose or cast. This thing looks like it is machined perfectly and then polished and blued. It is very nice. Here are the specs I got. Total weight= 18.2 oz. Head weight= 11.2 oz. Handle length= 18 3/4" Cutting edge= 2 3/4" Handle at butt end is 1 1/16" x 7/8". By way of comparison if you don't have one...my Cold Steel Trailhawk specs are......Total weight= 21.9 oz. Head weight= 13.3 oz. Handle length= 19" Cutting edge= 2 1/4" Handle at butt end is 1 1/4" x 7/8".

As I type this the specs do not look that different. However, the handle of the Scout seems very small to my rather large paw. I have a H&B Forge Small Camp Hawk from here in Ohio and it is a little heavier but it fits my hand so much better I decided to keep it and let the Pathfinder go to another owner. My H&B for matter of comparison has 22.2 oz. total weight but it has a 3 1/8" cutting edge also.

If you want a small light weight hammer pole hawk with nice leather accountraments I do not think you will be disappointed. It is marked by "2 Hawks" so I assume they made it and it is of very high quality. I purposely did not put up this review until after mine had sold and shipped. It is on its way to a hopefully happy new owner. I wrote this little review because I could not find a description anywhere. Here are some comparion pics. Hope you found this useful.

Gerber, H&B Small Camp (currently redoing the handle), Wetterlings (Wildlife I think)

Devin at 2 Hawks makes a great piece. I just got my Pathfinder Hawk yesterday. The handle is thin. My head goes almost to the end of the handle, does fit snug though.

My wife has the next size up from the Pathfinder and she loves it. Devin at 2hawks is cool to deal with. They really are a good working tool for the woods. Not ready to give up my GB SFA yet, but I like her hawk!

I have two of 2 Hawks hawks. Devin Price is a straight up guy. He takes pride in his work, so much so that I really don't want to throw mine all over the place. I'm sure it will hold up fine. The finish on them is very nice. The handles are somewhat thin for my hands and they slip into the head somewhat due to shrinkage. I need to soak my handles in kerosene or add a small shim inside the head to snug it up. The kerosene will help to temper the handle. I used to do that with wooden ramrods for my blackpowder rifles. I had a friend go to the Tulsa gun show this weekend and he saw Devin there. I talked with Devin on the phone and asked my friend to pick up a hawk sheath for the Longhunter and the Voyager axe that I have. I also got an extra handle that Devin threw in with my purchase. This young man will go far. Good for him. He is running his business right on. Since I have an extra handle now, maybe I should start throwing them. What the heck. Give it some character. Dave Canterbury
calls the longhunter the pathfinder and throws it well. It's all fun and games, never throw your weapon away. Keep it in your hand. Regards
