this mystery box idea reminds me of one groups I was in that had a "take a penny, leave a penny" kind of thing. There was a box that went around, people added and removed stuff from it and then shipped it to the next person. With this hobby, the shipping could run up fast and there was always a waiting list so I never participated but it was an interesting idea.

Non PiF related:I recall talk of Zippos and losing fluid overtime earlier in the thread. Found a decent alternative for y'all: Exotac Titan

A little expensive, but it appears to work pretty well from reviews. Thinking I might add one to the arsenal.

Zippos are fine, as long as you maintain your EDC gear appropriately.

Strop your knife, check the batteries in your flashlight, and fuel up your Zippo... Good to Go!

Nothing wrong with your addition, spice-of-life and all...

But I got a couple of Bic Lighters in my pack too. ;)

yeah, but having to refuel something that you arent using is a waste of fuel. I dont carry zippos for this reason. I dont smoke or anything so it is strictly for fire-starting or melting cut rope/line etc. And everyone has their own approach, but I strive to have as low maintenance GHB as possible. Time sneaks up on you and before you know it, you havent checked your bag in months.

Seems a little slow in here lately. I am sorting through a few big blades that I think need a new home. I've been buying too many. SP-53 kinda stuff, not sure if I'll go higher end yet.

Ok I hope I'm doing this right, so here it goes.

@wroughndt , i.have been looking at the Gerber Flat iron and I see you have one. I would like to have that if it's still available.

I'd like to offer up my Buck Bantam never used but no box. I just added the firecord lanyard.

Man I wish I could afford decent knives. I'd check out what you got to purchase if I did.

Nice thing about this thread is that you don't have to purchase. Rules are on the first page, but being new I would suggest hanging around for a while and chatting it up with the forum members for a while. Since you joined today, we'll be a little skeptical sending something your way for free but if we think you're a cool cat after a little bit, we're certainly much, much more trusting.

Welcome to the forums. It's a great group of guys and gals we have here.

This right here. Spend some time checking out the forums and learning what might interest you. My tastes DRASTICALLY changed in the first few months that I was here and knowing what I know now... The knives I was interested in when I first joined, dropped off my radar quickly.

Contributing members on this forum (and that can just be knowledge/conversation, not necessarily a paid membership) receive much more than they put in to this forum in my opinion. Heck, there's even a Basic Membership in this thread up for grabs. Hang around the site a bit more and maybe you can claim it a little later down the road. :)

@dsalazar I'm going to officially offer up a used Ontario SP-53 that has been stripped and re-ground so it now actually cuts. I was thinking about dropping in a bow saw and axe head but I don't want to commit quite yet.

I do want to add in a PVC saw that works pretty well for dry wood and is quite packable. One of a handful I've been trying as a pack saw, but I haven't found one to work better than my Irwin all-purpose saw or silky big boy, the irwin being fantastic on the dry stuff. I'll get pictures of everything I have in one spot again when I get a chance.

I would love for the person who may claim the SP-53 to claim the DP hunter, let's say freebie on the hunter's value so only need to have a PIF value up to the SP-53.

SP-53 big chopper (might as well be a hatchet), PVC saw for shelter building (think of it like a non-folding bahco), and a DP hunter with convex grind for the finer work. NOW with a buck 112 in the woods kit.

I'm also throwing in my old HK feint. It's a 440c, 9.5" blade that is really light for the length and has really surprised me at how well a stainless can chop. I don't abuse it like a Busse or the SP-53 has but it has chopped up a fair amount of grass, bushes, small trees and limbs, and briars. It was my "quick hike machete" for a couple years, but I've recently upgraded to something. Really, the sheath is what makes the package less appealing. I like this knife a lot, but I have plenty in this size better suited to my uses already.

PVC saw is something like this (image from Home Depot):

SP-53 on top, HK feint in the middle, buck 112 on the bottom.

Binlun watch, to combine everything I have on offer.
