People have already had their accounts shut down for knife sales. That isn't new. That is why you see "no notes" a lot in listings

I put "knife" in the comments frequently.

Not clicking that. Why would PayPal send someone an email with the hyperlink “www.paypalobjects.com”? That’s not their domain name.
It is their website. You can check the ssl cert and see it's registered to PayPal (and check the alternative names for the dozens of other urls PayPal uses that cert with). Every big company has many, many domains. If you open the tools in any browser to view background/source of your favorite tech comapny, you will see JavaScript loads stuff from tons of domains

It just brings you to the main policy change. The last one is just the specifics of what is considered restrictive which is a sub part of the first one. Yes, they do send out policy change notices by e-mail. I have gotten them since I had set up an account years ago. I just clicked on both links from this page. No issues, but your decision not to.

Does this mean we can no longer accept PayPal payment for knives and such?

The TOS says what you can use PayPal for.

The PayPal TOS you linked to said:
or (k) certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law

So know and follow the laws of your jurisdiction, and those of the jurisdiction you are shipping to, and there should be no problem.

In comments I frequently say Work of art, which is what I consider nice knives. Never had an issue. As a buyer, I don't like sellers ordering me not to comment ON MY OWN PAYPAL ACCOUNT. But maybe that's just me.

These peer-to-peer services are all going to catch up on people bypassing policy to make transactions. Enjoy it while you can, but eventually PayPal is going to go the way of Facebook for knife/gun transactions.

I stopped using PayPal to sell items months ago, but the reason was because now they report everything to the IRS, new rule this year. It will be added to your overall income, anything over $600 a year (FJB). So, your a collector and you do some buying & selling just to enhance your collection or get rid of your dust collectors they are tracking every dime you get. I am back to USPS money orders, bank checks, personal checks (after clearing) etc.. Why do you think they are hiring over 82,000 new IRS agents and they are ARMING them to the tune of your tax dollars (again FJB). Nice huh?

This has been discussed numerous times and some of what you say is not true, misrepresented at best. Take that misinformation to the political forum.

Doesn't sound like a good idea. I never write anything in the comments. But "tool" would be better than, "knife", I would think.

If they are asking you to send money, rather than sending
you an itemized invoice, and you put nothing in the comments, it is going to be that much harder to hold them accountable if they ship you the wrong item.

But if knives are restricted, then putting that in your note just gets 2 people shut down and you still have no recourse if your item is wrong.

Also, it's a note on a transaction, not your own account. It affects both parties so I fully understand asking people not to tattletale!

Tattletale is for when you break the rules. When you are following the rules, it's called transparency.
Except that the premise here is that using PayPal for a knife purchase is against TOS, so you're NOT following the rules as it is and adding the "knife" note just highlights it.

It's plain to see that you are twisting "certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law" into "knives in general".

The OP said that was the case.
My statement specifically references that being the premise.
You seem to be missing the point that PayPal just gets to decide that a knife is a weapon or not.
Policy and Application of Policy are 2 separate things. You'll see the complaints tied to the Application of Policy.
