For those of you who own a Peak LED flashlight, or those who were hoping to own one, go on over to the Manufacturers board at www.candlepowerforums. com

Peak has a link to a press release that seems to indicate they are no longer in business, due to litigatation.

Yikes!

Scott

Damn! That's sad. "Litigation with a long time manufacturer of multiple LED Flashlights" It could be Emissive Energy (Inova), but who knows? First Arc and now Peak. Who will be next on the chopping block? Nightcutter?

I find it intesresting because no one else has a product similar to Peak. I guees if something is available and you like it buy lots before something happens.

CRUD! I have a Matterhorn 3led in brass and really like it. Already have the money saved up for a luxeon from them.

Thanks for the news.

Chris

Actually, they are NOT going out of business. RTFA!

If you read the thread on candlepowerforums and the press release on the peakledsolutions web site, you will see that they have reached an agreement with an unnamed company to stop selling mulit-led flashlights. That's all. They are still makiing and selling led flashlights and have new designs on the way.

I'm still holding on to my cash for a luxeon, and now prize my Matterhorn 3 led even more.

I hope it does work out, still doesn't make sense to me.

I'm a little cautious now. remember when ARC didn't have any products to sell for like 6 months? I said to myself, no cash flow they going to go out of business.

Well, hope they hurry up with the Luxeons!

Amen to that. My hope is now that this issue is settled they can start cranking out those really bright little lights.

Sad news, I'm a big fan of Peaks lights. I really like my 5led AA I got. Maybe I'll see if I can find another.

Interesting you should say this. Per an e-mail from them yesterday, they're discontinuing the 5PC model in the near future. Didn't ask about their 3-LED models as I have no experience with, or interest in them.

I wonder if this will affect manufacturers of multi-LED headlamps, though.

There is more than one manufacturer of multi-led flashlights around. Innova and Dorcy spring to mind, but I know there are others too, I just don't have the names on the tip of my tongue. WTF? Could this be a patent thing? I detest the way the patent office allows patents for dead obvious "innovations" like putting more than one emitter in a container. If I find out who brought this suit, I for sure will NEVER buy one of their products. (And I don't even have any Peak flashlights --- yet.)

Paul

My impression is since Dorcy mostly makes cheap mass-market flashlights they are a large company with a lot of money in the war chest, and if somebody tries to intimidate them with a nuisance suit they'll lawyer up and stomp all over them....

I bet it's Inova. Anyway, hopefully Peak can weather this. They can still make their single LED light it appears so that's good. This will make them jump hard into the luxeon market. I believe they also make components for other companies so maybe they can survive this.

That majorly sucks! I really like my Mckinely Series! :( I really hope they sell a lot of their new lights in order to make up for their loss.

Aaaghh, I hope it isn't true. I really like their small Arc proto with the three leds. I gave away three for Xmas and I only have one left on my keychain.

Thats a real shame, I have one of their 7 LED lights and its a great light

Luxeons are great for high light output but theyre less efficient on the batteries. For me LED clusters are better day to day. Wish I had ordered two now!

If it is inova then its just jealousy, the quality of Peak's lights is way above Inova IMO
