Went for a quick bike ride to the park before work to do some writing. Pen is my Godfather's Parker 61 had his signature engraved on the barrel but it cracked. still have the cracked barrel in a drawer. Has a unique capillary filling system.

I've never been 100% satisfied with a GEC:eek:. Couldn't be happier with this 48. Guess it helps getting to choose the exact knife you're getting from excellent photos. It also came shaving sharp my first GEC to come that way. Stag is a material I've admired for quite some time. I was not disappointed should've scratched the itch sooner. I knew it looks good but it also has a nice feel to it.

photo link on bladeforums is lower quality than what the source looks like? oh well

Interesting thread idea, I toyed with an EDC fountain pen for a while but I'm too active, clumsy and careless - ended up covered in ink - to make it work. I love the idea of carrying a proper pen. I once had to deal with a very eccentric old boy who gave me a dressing down for referring to his pen as just a pen "no, no my boy this is not a pen, this is a Mont Blanc!".

....so I make do with a wee bomb proof fisher.

Years ago after a good night at the casino I impulse bought a fisher space pen at the bookstore in the casino. Damn how long ago was that, a bookstore, let alone an independent one in a casino. Astronauts!!!

But even for my small hands it was pretty uncomfortable to write with. Started shopping for the bigger fisher pens. Which were more expensive. Expense got me started thinking about other pens which led to fountain pens. Noting my interest in fountain pens my parents pulled out my godfather's parker 61 set they bought him.

I hear you, pmew. My fountain pens were just sitting in a drawer. But near the beginning of the year I just decided to start taking the time out of the day to write. Out they came. Now I'm kinda hooked. I started shopping for options to carry my pens on bike rides, vacation, etc. Ended up with a Nock Sinclair case, the red case. Enough space for pens, memo pads, knives, phone. http://nockco.com/cases/sinclair. That MB guy was a clown :p.

I played around with the idea of pens & knives in a photo a few years ago - never could make myself real happy with the results - for me it was two very different objects to blend. My former 1SG (who is 75 now) turns beautiful wood objects, however he made this pen for me by turning deer antler - it matches the GEC white bone pretty well. OH
