Hello all.

Have any of you ever used this heat treating service ? and if so , how did it turn out for you ?

Thanks in advance.

Just received some cpm3v from them, they were fast and organized. Will use them again

All my HT so far was done by Peters. Fast, courteous, and professional all the way.

For my stainless blades I use no-one else. Great people. Never had an issue of anykind with them.

Brad at Peters heat treating is a hell of a guy. Everything I sent came back straight and exactly to my specs.

To get the best bang for your buck, be ready with up to 20 pounds of knives of one steel type.

Of the heat treaters that I have used, Peter's has been the best. I use them a lot.

Does Peter's do clay backed blades? Do any of the heat treaters do clay backed blades? Do you do the clay yourself or do they? Thanks,

Dave

Call Brad at Peters' and ask him about it. When I spoke to him at the Guild show last fall he was talking about having done some clay-backed blades and seemed excited to do more.

Thanks you all very much for taking the time to reply , I appreciate it.

By the way I'm looking to get a CPM-M4 blade taken to the 'next' level.

Thanks again !
:)

+1 for Peter's. Will do 3V sword blades, 52100, and all the other strange exotics. Just did an Elmax chef's knife for me. Brad is always trying to do the best for us.
And he keeps forgetting to charge me for his shipping expenses!!! Terrible :-)

What's the minimum number of knife blades to be cost effective at Peters? I've profiled an ATS-34 Chef's knife, and have heard single digit prices quoted for Peter's, but the pros here are usually sending out big lots of blades?

Last I looked it was $15 or $18 each for the first four blades, then the price stayed constant for the first 20 lbs that could be processed together.

I do my own blade heat treating where I work for now. However we use peters Heat treat a good bit for a few of our larger jobs, and high quantity jobs. I have been doing business with them for about 7 years with not one problem I can think of. I have dealt with Brad, and Jamie, and even have spoke to Doug Peters himself a few times about some nitride diffusion jobs. I would highly reccommend them to anyone!
