Greetings tinkerers !

I recently picked up a Kizer Contrail that has the white plastic type washers and wanted to change them out with phosphor bronze ones as I just think the blade glides smoother on them than the plastic kind. But not sure who or where one can buy such small bits of material?

You can get the bulk material and cut your own. But, you can also get PB washers at knife making supply houses like knifekits individually. You need the thickness and pivot diameter as well as overall circumference.

Thanks guys I have messaged Kizer but no reply yet, I’ll take the knife apart and measure the one that they are using

Well, I cracked the pivot loose and thought, I'll just try and set that so no blade play, and voila it is pretty smooth and still solid, so I probably will just leave it be for now, it must have been just a hair too tight before.
But thanks for the tips and may use them down the road.

I maintain a large assortment of BP washers (all the little containers hold BP washers), different outer diameters, inner diameters, and thicknesses.

I got most of them from USAKnifemaker.com, a few odd sizes from Knifekits.com.

Thanks :).

I build switchblades, and I need a large assortment of washers for that (a lot of trial and error to get the perfect fit). Fortunately they're very inexpensive, so it doesn't cost much to have such a large variety.
I've seen some of your work. Very well done.

I’ve found that the plastic washers create a smooth action if lubed and the pivot is tuned right, as you already found out. They do bend and crease easily though.

Glad you got the action tuned right.

Thanks and yes, that seems to be the facts with this one, much nicer now. And I did receive a reply from Kizer and they are willing to send out the washers I just need to pay the shipping, but as I don't have paypal it makes it difficult, but, since they are not needed now, a moot point, but wanted to let those know that Kizer did respond quickly and willing to send them out to me :)
