Pick Axe handle?

Replacement handles are typically a universal fit. They made need rasping down to fit the particular eye snugly.

I don't come across slip fit pick handles worth a hoot at hardware stores anymore. What's out there these days are modified sledge handles with a tapered plastic sleeve attached. Nice to see from the Tennessee Hickory catalogue that traditional ones still exist. The reason I've been looking I have a 16 lb sledge head with a 1 1/2 x 2 'round-over rectangle' eye (much larger than an standard sledge eye) that I was hoping to be able to adapt a pick handle to.

Looks like excellent wood! And it will fit up nicely.

I try to set those with 1/2" or less wood protruding above the head. I either shave the handle or cut off the top. Don't make much difference.
