Decided to do some work on mine. Almost 10 years of use from the oil and gas exploration to mining environment it has seem plenty of work and is one of my users in the shop deburring Ti and cutting sand paper.
I felt I needed to thin it out. A bit lopsided now since I cannot remove the studs on the front side the edge is thinner and cuts better now. I will most likely run through the grits as time progresses and I have the time to do the work.
Correct. The ball got damaged when the knife fell from the roof onto bricks I believe. Took a few years for the ball to actually cause issues/dislodge due to fracturing. One day there was no more ball sticking out but still lodged in the detent pocket of the lock bar.
I replaced it again with another ceramic detent ball.
This one is currently in the shop for a spruce up after a recent unplanned/unauthorized blade tip customization - courtesy of the cement floor in my garage
