I like it .Yeah, It is a strange thing. I cant find any photos of any others with that "hook" on it.
Its has proper looking age and patina too me but I am now leaning towards it being an elaborate fake. I tested the buttons with a magnet and they are magnetic. From what I have discerned they are suppose to be pure copper if they are fur trade era.
For an antique? I've seen them at $400 up to thousands depending on condition, provenance, etc. They were trade goods and pretty popular at one time, Natives didn't manufacture them but they'd adorn them all sorts of ways. Natives generally made pipes of soapstone, catlinite and other local materials they could carve.Hello friends
