Can anyone recommend any blade-forum approved dealers that sell pre-owned sebenzas? I haven't been having much luck with the Blade forum exchange and I am becoming impatient. They either sell before I see them or in one case I am the first to respond in the thread and sent an email but it was sold out from under me to someone else who didn't respond in the thread. I also don't trust my CRK knowledge enough to buy off ebay and I don't want to spend the money and find out it is a fake.

I don't know of any dealers that sell pre owned sebenzas. As for the exchange, I have been burned alot as of late myself, but its no big deal honestly. When I sell, I do it a certain way, which is pretty much the norm, other sellers make up their own rules. It will happen again, so dont sweat it. Just be patient. Decide what you want and keep an eye out for it.........!!! If you think you are are missing out on the exchange here, sometime go to the Sold on ebay and see what you missed out on there.....lol. Will make you cry sometimes :)

What specifically are you looking for in a used Sebenza? You can post in the "Want to Buy" forum the specifics of what you are looking for. Also, if you upgrade your membership to Gold you can add a signature to every post you make that contains a description of what you are looking for.

Such a place would be convenient...but then the dealer would need to maintain some margins as well...so seller gets less, and buyer pays more...

i agree with nyefmaker...patience is important...early this year, i too was looking around (exchange, e-bay etc) and hoping...and one day i was looking at some ads on kijiji (classifieds site) for flashlights, and came across some one who was selling a few knives & flashlights. The ad just mentioned that he had a couple CRKs, no pics, no price..any way..ended up meeting and he was actually a member from BF, and that was how i got my first CRK...a nicely taken care of and sharpened Sebenza 21...

But you know what...soon after...i just really wanted a new one from the factory... ;)

Good luck with your search! I hope your Sebenza finds you soon!!

Everything said so far is right on. If you see something on ebay you can alway ask for advice here and will get honest answers. The membership with signature line with what you want is very good. Membership is enexpensive and nice little perks. Keep looking we all miss the ones we want sometime like just this morning......just a little late for that lg. regular. :-(

Be patient my friend and check the exchange regularly. When the time is right you will find yours. Or just buy a new one, it's only going to be 10-15% more than used. Just something to think about.

Best of luck.

Here is your best bet on picking up a good used Sebenza. Check the forum and check it often. I've bought a lot of knives from the bay, even bought a fake CRK that fooled me. Got a full refund back without any issues, it took about 10 days to get the money back. You are protected through the bay and PayPal. Most folks are honest and some don't understand the difference between the fakes and real thing, that's the ones you have to be careful of and ask lots of questions. And you have the help of all the great people here to help you determine the real deal if you find one outside of this forum. Like everyone said, be patient and it will happen or you can be like me and wind up with a bunch of CRK's because I don't have the patience to wait, which is not a bad thing either. Being a lefty, the LH CRK's don't come around that often. I've collect mostly RH models, if I'd had a little patience, I would have found that the LH models do come around

Thanks for all the advice and responses. This is why I love BladeForums. I am pretty open as far as sebenzas go. If I have a preference I am leaning towards an insingo blade but that limits handle options. I really like many of the CGG but the ones I have found in the exchange have been equal to or more than retail prices. I guess the biggest factor for me is going to be price. I am looking and have missed out on several that have been more than 10-15% off of new. I would love new but probably can't afford it, and since its going to be a user I don't mind a pre-owned knife.

Pay bladeforum $35 so you have access to the WTB section then post a WTB (and also post the add in your sig line). You will get a hit off that and probably save more than the $35 membership cost.

I know you've been here since '07 but I've never seen you before so welcome fellow columbus blade enthusiast.

I have bought two lovely left handed regular Sebenzas at the exchange here. I also have also bought and sold several used Sebenzas on ebay over the years. The knives I sold on ebay went for lower than I would have liked, so I prefer to sell on the exchange when I have something to sell. Judging from my experiences selling, you can get a decent deal on ebay, but you of course you can also get scammed, so beware.

Yeah, as has been stated, the best thing you can do is post a want to buy thread, and wait. Somebody will respond to you, trust me. It's how I bought my Mnandi I got for my father's birthday gift. You'll find one eventually..

I purchased all of my CRK's: two Zaans, about 20 large and small Sebenzas, and several Mnandis on the Exchange during the last 18 months or so. You can find anything you want there...as-new-in-box, slightly used, etc. and the descriptions should match the photos. I don't buy scratched blades...just about anything else can be fixed. Make sure you know which size Sebbie will fit your hand...BEFORE you buy it. I can only carry large, even though I've owned at least ten small, just because I like to look a them.
Don't be afraid of spider-trails on the titanium slabs. A trip to the Spa and it's golden again...as new, along with a free cleaning and sharpening of the blade.
If you're shopping, you have to hit the Exchange often and periodically, but you will find your knife. And, yes, I also missed out on that beautiful REGULAR Sebbie that went quickly this morning...well...yesterday morning...

Thanks for all the replies, I have gone to a local B&M and held them and played with them. I definitely want a large. I am thinking about an insingo blade too, but we will see how patient I can be and what becomes available on the exchange.

How often do Damascus Sebenza's Come up for sale. I can barely find any that are new let alone pre-owned.

I picked up one here about 3 weeks ago, a large with Damascus and micatra inlays with double lugs for what I felt was a good price. I was off work and happen to be on BF when it came up and I didn't give it a chance to sit there before I bought it. There are authorized dealers on selling sites that have new Damascus 21's for sale. If you would become a paying member, you'd be surprised at the willingness of the members here to help you out

Membership Purchased, signature updated with WTB, Post made in WTB Section.

Now its just a waiting game.
