I have a basic model given to me in the late 1970's the kind with the two shelves in it, so when you open the lid they are easily accessible and I love it but alas it got to small so at the local Bi-Mart (sort of like wally world but smaller and the employees own the store and ARE knowledgable on the products sold). Recently I bought a "Guide series" model 757.. took it out fishing and then left it in the tahoe and the heat inside the tahoe exceeded 120 degrees and when I went to open the tackle box the latch broke.. when I got home I called Plano and violas within a week I had a new latch without having to provide proof of purchase etc... well Sunday opened the box and the latch broke (dangit) called Plano and within a week I will have a new latch.... great customer service and I would definately buy any of their products.

Those are made in Plano, Illinois near where I grew up. I've had my first Plano tackle box for probably 30 years and my second box for nearly 20 years. Both are still absolutely functional.

It seems they may have a problem with the latches though. Did your's actually break twice?

first latch broke, got replacement and it was a pain to get in due to the overall lenth of the nipples that hold the latch into the box. and the replaced latch broke Sunday.. this is where you have a nipple on each side of the latch to hold it to the main box and the latch catches a ledge on the lid to hold the box closed, sort of like some of the old steel watch band clasps, the problem is the nipple is the week spot of the whole box.

I have a Plano tackle box, as well as a Plano trauma box.

the trauma box is bright orange and white, and has deeper trays than a regular tackle box.

I have never had a problem with either box, and my trauma kit resides in the back of my Explorer, even during the heat.

Bi-Mart is da bomb, Lizardman. I have one less than a mile from my house!

and as I stated I would definately buy another Plano product as the customer service is excelent :D

oh and you lucky Bastid... Bi-Mart is in Hermiston 30 minutes from my house. Bi-Mart has helped mount and boresight some of my scopes and if the counter person doesn't know the answer they are willing to find the answer one way or another... and when I buy ammo they will special order things for me that they may not regularly carry like match grade .22 or some nice controlled expansion bullets like Black Tallon under the new name Winchester has dubbed it. Bi-Mart rocks :D

Plano rocks, as far as tackle boxes go. And, always get one big and sturdy enough to be able to sit on it.
