I have a Case Outlander Wilderness fixed blade that I've never really liked and would like to tinker around with. I cant do anything about the blade but the handle is begging for some mods, Until I learn to rehandle a knife properly, I was considering coating the handle with Plasti Dip, which is a sort of liquid plastic coating similar to what is found on pliers handles etc. I've used PlastiDip on tool handles before and its every bit as durable as the original coating, and doesn't dry to a slick texture so I figured on giving it a go after prepping with a residue free degreaser/ cleaner ( MAF sensor cleaner actually ) and roughing up the surface with some abrasive
Has anyone had any experience doing this with a knife handle ? I know that this may seem like a kindof tacky way to mod a knife , but considering that I'll be covering a non working thermometer and compass in the handle of a knife thats been in the junk drawer for decades its potentially an easy to put some lipstick on a pig.
THANKS
