Repairing this axe I found when my Grandparents were moving. The handle was beyond repair. Anyone know if this brand is any good and possibly how old it is?

Plumb made some very good tools. The search feature will show you some winners. Without photos, however, we can't tell you much more than this.

It has the word Plumb in big capital letters. I tried posting a picture but it wouldn’t work.

You'll need to use a hosting site like imgur. Also, don't throw the old handle away in case it has interesting labels on it.

In the meantime, search "plumb" in this subforum and start reading. I hear it's good for you. ;)

You have a carpenter's hatchet (I have seen them called roofing and contractor's hatchets, as well). The poll appears not to have any mushrooming and the surface looks well taken care of and used appropriately. Rehandle it and it will give you a lifetime of use.

Another member will come along in the next day or so and chime in, certainly.

Can you shoot the other side?

Those are good quality but yours is very worn. It's lost at least a 1/2" of material off the toe (upper corner of the hatchet).

Agreed, but it can be reprofiled for continued use. Many of these half hatchets have been and are being used to process kindling for stoves and campfires, light camp craft, repairing fences, and general utility on farms snd worksites. Use it in good health!
