I've been trying to purchase an assortment of Torx screws in order to replace pocket clip screws that (invariably!) get stripped out. While I was able to find a couple of kits full of different screws on Amazon, these are all too small and really intended for wireless phones and such.
Can anybody point me to an assortment of Torx screws in the appropriate size range for major manufacturers' pocket clips?
I don't need to identify the specific sizes that specific manufacturers are using -- I just want to buy an assortment of the right size screws so that when I need to replace a pocket clip screw, I can.
Any help or direction you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks.
I disagree, you DO need to ID the specific sizes that specific makers are using.
They could be inch or metric.
Not just one, but any of maybe 15 different sizes
In inch sizes, 0-80
1-72
2-56
4-40
#3-48, I've never seen one in person.
In metric sizes any of the 10 metric sizes in that range
1 to 4 mm coarse or fine
Since most production mfgers are in Asia, I'd bet on the metric sizes
In made in USA customs try the # sizes
Some will be close to each other so you really need to measure it to get the right one.
What do you mean by stripped out and why does it happen so often.
If the screws turn out, try some loctite 242 to prevent turning
If the holes fail to hold the correct screw
I most often see that the hole threads are buggered vs the screws threads.
then the hole threads are stripped and that hole needs drilling and tapping to a larger size.

Getting the right screw thread, material, finish, length is not always easy.
You think you can just buy it longer and shorten it, but when you do that, you need to finish the threads so they work and the burr is gone.
If mfgers have settled on a consistent size, then get some from them.
Benchmade and Spyderco are pretty good about that.
When you get those, also request the info on their size.
If you want to buy a package of 100 once you have that info, by all means go ahead
"Machine screws"
The cell phone screws could include threads that are more like wood screws.
If it's the heads you strip

those should help
