Pocket watch, chain and knife: How to carry?

Just won a pocket knife with a chain on ebay. I have never owned a pocket watch and was wondering how those of you who carry a knife on the chain do it? Which pocket do you place the watch and which one do you place the knife in. Also do you have any suggestions for a nice knife to put on the end of the chain?

Thanks,

Most practical? Probably a pair of good old fashioned bib overalls. But modern society has pretty much taken them out of the daily wardrobe selection for most of us. So how about a nice leather pocket watch sheath worn on the belt? Not sure where you would get one or have one made though.

Do you wear jeans? Many brands do still come with watch pockets, or "the fifth pocket." I can't recall having seen a watch pocket on any of the docker type pants though.

There are still high end slacks that are made with a "watch pocket" concealed in the waistband above the right front pocket but I don't think that I have ever seen docker type pants with them.

Hi Comet-

Is the pocket watch you won a valuable, antique, or particularly interesting piece?

The convenience of wearing a watch on the wrist (brought to us courtesy of World War I) is a military-inspired update that "stuck" in the civilian marketplace. It requires less movement than unholstering or unpocketing a watch on a chain. If you have won a modern quartz model, you might be better off sticking with the utility of a wristwatch and not have to worry about modifying your wardrobe. Just my humble $0.02 as an enthusiastic horologist.

used to carry one, haven't had a watch on me for 2yrs now though(I carry my cellphone).

when I carried I just dropped it into left/front pocket... wallet in right rear and any small items in right/front... Now, if I was to carry a pocket watch again I'd get a well made belt pouch.
