Hi everyone!

In january this year the Pohl Force ~ H3 Alpha Two was released. I've had it now for several months but I hardly find treads about this model on US forums. Mostly in Western Europe. So I am wondering if anyone out here on this forum has got one and what your opignion is up on this particular folding knife.

The Pohl Force H3 Alpha Two is designed by knife expert and book author Dietmar Pohl. Each knife comes complete with zippered, padded pouch, signed/numbered inspection certificate, and removable Velcro patch.

The H3 Alpha Two is developed by Military and Police Special Forces instructors of H3’s Training Division.

Its agressive appearance, due to its molded structured handle and recurved serrated blade, makes this folding knife a true piece of brute strenght in my believe.

Tactical Life wrote a review about the Pohl Force H3 Alpa One. Quite similar to the second version.

So please tell me if anybody else has got one and what you think about this knife.

Thanks for watching.

What a really cool looking folder, I had no idea bout the Alpha line and I really like it!! Now the search is on for an H3 Alpha Two!!

Thanks for sharing Wouter

#*!$, thats one heck of a folder. That thing is huge !
Looks like a very rugged knife, very nice appearance. Appears extremely well made, thanks for sharing.

I haven't got one yet but I will. Everything I've read about it indicates that it's a very well made knife. I love large folders and this one's exceptionally cool looking as well.
It should be wildly popular but it doesn't seem to be.

It is quite popular in Europe, as the quality/price ratio is really convincing compared to imported knives. I have the alpha one with the normal (non-black) plain blade.
It is with some distance my most beastly, most sturdy folder, even more so than my zt0200. It also features several clever design features.
I also have it's smaller and much more EDC-able brother the bravo one. Good stuff.
If you're interested, I made YouTube video reviews of both knives (incl an interview with mr Pohl in the bravo video). I'm typing this on an iPod touch hence it is not easy to paste links, but if you search YouTube for MrDagon007 you will find my channel and both clips.

PreviousLy mr pohl designed fir eickhorn (the pohl one series) and especially many knives for Boker. He did the lovely and modern classic Turbine. I really like the smaller Turbine 2 for edc.

Now that I think about it, if I am not mistaken a german soldier unit in Afghanistan carries the alpha one or two. It's not a mall ninja thingy and there are several clever design touches.

I like !! How much ? And where can I get one ?

Even though I am used to better steels, 440C ain't that bad. At least that huge beast is easy to sharpen :D

About the 440c: it was chosen for a balance of high stain resistance, still doable in the field sharpening (both features important for the vocation of the alpha outdoor variant as extreme survival folder), and a decent quality-price.

I do agree that even if only for marketing reasons towards USA buyers, an s30v variant would be welcome. However o am plenty happy with mine. In my experience the blade has really some bite to it, it cuts very well for a sufficiently long time.

FYI the alpha three and the bravo one use D2 steel.

440c is not an "all hyped up super steel" but many knife manufactures in Europe still use it. There really nothing wrong with it.

But if you really do not like this steel the new alpha 3 and the bravo 1 come with d2 steel.:D

The only sad thing about the alpha three is that it's the tanto variant!

I don't like the look of most of the Pohl Force knives, but this one looks fine to me! Nice knife. I like how they texture the scales.

I've never seen them in stock at any of the major US retailers. Have I just overlooked them?

Looks like crap to me.

How rude... Next time spend a minute telling us why and you wont come off looking like a troll.

Thanks for the thread and the pics Wouter , those look like solid , well built knives.
I agree the price is a bit steep for the materials , it's still a good looking knife , I would prefer one without serratons and a non coated blade.

As far as the blade steel choice you guys have to remember that not everyone is a wiz at keeping their knife sharp , a soldier most likely does not have the time or material to sit and fiddle with a difficult to sharpen steel which is why a steel like 440C is used , IMO.
Not to mention that despite all of today's shmancy steels , 440C is still very used and very respected , especially amongst the old school. :)
