Greetings all,

Well, I happened into one of those 'too good to pass up deals' on a knife that caught my interest: the Pohl Force Mike One. There's a couple pretty detailed vids on the 'tube about it, but I haven't seen too much discussion here on it.

I will say that if you are looking for a heavy-duty, well constructed mid-sized folder in the $350-ish range (tho there's been some real deals well below that price here lately), this one is a serious 'sleeper' contender. I really like the ergos on this knife, particularly how it orientates the blade edge in relation to your fingers/hand on the handle. And I like the utility of the blade profile, no recurve or anything, just a straight edge with a well aligned point. With its thick stock, this folder isn't going to be the best choice for slicing tomatoes at the picnic, but for a hard use folder in working conditions, you should probably give this sleeper a look. I am thinking I'm going to be adding it to my EDC line-up soon.

I don't have tons of time at the moment to give all the my thoughts, but will come back with some additional input and observations shortly.

In the meantime, here's 5000 words worth of pictures.

Looks great man! Enjoy the new blade, and continue letting us know how it does for you.

Additional Pictures.

I've got additional comments, but the cite isn't letting me add them at the moment, stay tuned I guess.

Cheers,

I have looked and looked and looked at this knife the one thing that always gives me pause on buying it is the clip. Looking at it in a picture the clip doesn't seem nearly as robust as the rest of the knife. Does the clip feel more sturdy than it looks? Does it provide good pocket retention? Thanks for any insight you have on this, I'm surprised that I dont see more of them floating around here and have been waiting to have someone's brain to pick about one

Greetings Nemesis,

No, the clip is NOT flimsy...if I had to guess, I think its some type of tempered spring steel. If you check out a couple of the vid reviews on the 'Tube, a couple show this aspect pretty clearly.

Sorry folks...I put about an hour into adding additional commentary on this knife, and for some reason, forum is not letting me put it up. Every time I try and add it, the screen times out and I get 'page can't be displayed'...not sure what's going on.

I was looking at one of these recently, seems like a helluva package to me. I wonder why we dont hear more about them on this site, considering the widespread obsession with 'over-built' folders. Its worth noting that there is a stonewashed version available as well.

The Pohl Force Mike One is very well made by LionSteel and Deitmar Pohl personally inspects each knife before he ships to dealers. It has a 3.74″ blade (0.197″ thick) of Niolox stainless tool steel. I have the black blade and it's very comfortable and not too big.

Here's a review by The Edge Observer:

The above video does a pretty good overview.

The forum still isn't letting me 'cut & paste' all the commentary I worked up, and I'm not really in the mood to try and do it all again.

Suffice it to say, I like this knife a lot: distinct, functional, strong, quality materials and manufacture, good ergos, etc. I you're in a market for this category of knife, and don't want to run with the normal 'crowd,' take a good look at it.

I like the knives that Pohl FOrce has come out with so far. I don't own one yet, but sometime soon I plan of fixing that.

They are very well made. I owned the larger Foxtrot One.

This is Phil from Pohl Force USA. Many thanks to BOSS for the review on the Pohl Force Mike One. Having read through the comments on the thread it was mentioned that very little was seen of Pohl Force on the forum , I have to admit to being guilty in that department but do intend being more active in the future. As the go-to person for Pohl Force in the USA I certainly welcome any questions or comments regarding Pohl Force or any of its products. Pohl Force I feel is growing in popularity and quite rightly so, the products are extremely good but have not really had the exposure, or marketing here in the USA that maybe they should have.
If we are talking quality, if one way to measure quality is the amount of product returns in the time I have been leading up Pohl Force in the US (18 months) I have had zero returns. That may be hard to imagine but true.
The Pohl Force website is always worth look at and the Facebook page is very active although German has full English translation. I welcome as I said direct contact , best is though email contact@pohlforceusa.com, you will always get a reply!

The clip used on Pohl Force knives is much tougher than it looks. It has very good retention in the pocket gripping firmly, that said when you need to use the knife there is no great resistance when pulling it out. It is unobtrusive which I like, you do not want to necessarily publicize that you are carrying a knife. It sits comfortably and looks attractive.

Hey, Phil. I've been to the web site. As someone just learning about your products, I'm not looking to for a novel to read but, the site could do better with descriptions of the same substance as Zero Tolerance has for their products. And I'd like the measurements to include inches please. And while I read "see below for more information about the xyz lock," I read below and don't see enough information to tell me what it is. And I'd like to know what the difference is between EOD and Survival. If it's just the coating, then maybe more about the coating.

Just my thoughts.

Hi Rey, thanks for your constructive feedback regarding the website. This as always is a work in progress and your points are taken on board and I will make every effort over the coming period to make more information available, it may still not be a novel, but you are right, there has to be at the very least critical specs and general info's available. I will take Zero Tolerance as a benchmark and try to do better. A point to mention also , I am basically a 'one man band' unlike the majority of other brands who probably have a staff dedicated to the promotion and sales of their products.

EOD is simply a category of knives 'Euro Ops Division'. These knives are in the main manufactured for Pohl Force by our good partner Lion Steel out of Maniago, Italy. A calibration of Pohl Force design and Lionsteel manufacturing. Quality control is effectively carried out by Lionsteel initially, then by Pohl Force in Burscheid, Germany (Dietmar Pohl himself) and then here (by me) in the USA prior to sale.

We use terms for almost all knives such as 'Survival' and 'Outdoor' . When using the term Survival this is knife will be black PVD coated. The Outdoor has a regular stonewashed or similar finish.
I hope that has helped at least a little, thanks once again for the feedback.!

Love my Pohl is a beast and the clip is very strong regardless of the looks, the lock up is so solid I dare to say it feels like a fixed blade, well worth it.
