Hi everyone, total noob here so I hope you can be patient. I recently scratched up the scale of my new knife, went on youtube and found a few instructional videos on how to polish out scratches.

Anyway long story short, using fine sandpaper, 3m rubbing compound and polish and a rotary tool and it's polishing heads, I was able to buff out the scratch but I also noticed this left a very high shine on the scales that gave a somewhat mirror like shine that got me intrigued about possibly giving it a full mirror high polish finish.

I just wanted to get some advice on how to do it, do I continue with the sanding ( 1500-2000 grit paper ) and the buffing with the rotary tool or should I be doing something else? The current texture has a brushed satin finish to it so it's not a flat matte surface.

Thanks in advance and any advice would be appreciated.:D

First off, titanium is soft, if you finished after 2000, keeping it wet, figure 8 motion, don't press hard, then use Semichrome, you will have a mirror polish. Complete process from beginning to end should not last more than one hour by hand.

Although I have an assortment of air/electric tools as well as a Foredom TX Flexshaft. I choose to do the following scales, wet sand/mirror polish by hand, after milling, before using flame for a lasting finish:
