Handle fasteners get discussed here and there.

I've learned a bit from my use and from members' experiences with what they shared. :)

Maybe the topic deserves a dedicated discussion gathering that wisdom in one central thread.

Anyways vote and post up what you like about your choice you voted for if you think it's worthy please, thank you.

tubes after polish look fantastic , imho...

slotted bolts look classic and add strength...

Hex bolts.

They give the option of adding liners to increase width.

but I, too, like removeable custom fasteners...I like Hex & Torx both...I've thrown my HG55 quite a bit and it's hit with some non-flush slonching licks on the handles and they've stayed solid...so I think they add some rigidity as a bonus, as well as flexibility to thicken as you mentioned...

these are black oxide Hex<allen> and brass I sourced from Knife Supply

some domed <pan-head> Torx Josh provided me for a tremendous SARSquatch I sold to a brother...

I think my next will be the flat headed, oversize Torx

I voted for slotted bolts as I just love the classics but I have at least one blade with every option on the list and I see pros and cons to them all. The tubes are simple and clean up great, the hex corby bolts on my HUCK are really nice too, mosaic and solid pins are beautiful, but a slotted bolt SHBM just does it for me!

I love the tubes. The slotted fasteners are only attractive because they represent Jerry's early knives, in my opinion. Otherwise they look like screws.

The hollow tubes have always been a favorite and one of the things I like about Busse knives.

I experienced the odd latency-induced double-poste.

Do I get another vote for hollow pins?

In the hand, I prefer the mosaic/solid pins. They provide, imho, a more comfortable grip than the hollow tubes. That being said, being able to easily remove the handle scales for maintenance or liner additions/removal sure would be handy. I don’t know which to vote for.

Double post. Apologies.

Edit : Seems to be a lot of double posts today. Assuming some type of glitch.

I like the looks of tubes but for feel I much prefer the solid/mosaic pins used on the CS blades. Leaves a smoother surface with less potential hot spots than the big countersinks that are needed for the tubes.

Screws are the weakest fastening method. I won’t buy any brand that uses them on hard-use fixed blade knives. And I’d guess that’s why Busse Combat doesn’t use them either.

I voted for tubes because they are the most solid and secure.
