I could be wrong, but when I was watching John Wick 2 yesterday, it looked like Common's character was carrying a Counter Tac, and Ruby Rose appeared to carry a Safe Maker. Anyone else see it and think the same?

Haven't seen the second part yet, but I remember the first one featured a Ka-Bar tanto (John Wick has one on his arsenal when he opens up his weapon's case after hammering the floor), he carried a Microtech OTF as well and in the final fight scene the bad boss had a classic italian stiletto.

I liked that movie a lot, looking forward for this second part. YOur thoughts on it?

Yeah Wick still carries an OTF auto in this one, though it's a different one from the first movie(not sure if it's still a Microtech or not, I don't know their products all that well). He uses it a few times, including in a knife fight with Common and his possible Counter Tac.

Movie itself should appeal to you if you liked the first one. Admittedly, it doesn't have the same "holy crap, where did THIS come from?!?" factor the first one had, but it's still got the same spectacular choreography, nice set pieces, the supporting cast is great(pretty much everyone who survived part 1 returns) featuring more Ian McShane plus Peter Stormare and Lawrence Fishburne in full scene-chewing mode, you see more of the "world" of Wick, there's even a few minor nods to various other classic action movies. On the downside, the main villain is a sort of Italian dandy, so not exactly an impressive villain in his own right(a lot of people thought Viggo wasn't a good villain in 1, but he's better than this guy), one who doesn't fight but lets his thugs do all the work and the woman who plays his sister is pretty cringe-worthy with her acting. Common does surprisingly well as the sister's bodyguard though, and the sister's role is pretty small so it's only a minor drawback. Now, if someone didn't like the first one, this one wouldn't change their minds, but for anyone who did like the first, this is an absolute must see. I can already guarantee you won't get better action sequences this year as far as American movies go, if you even want to TRY to find something as good you're gonna have to check out the Asian scene(Iko Uwais of The Raid/Raid 2 has a new movie coming out, so that might provide competition, but as far as US action cinema, this one won't be touched).

Both The Raid were way above any recent US-made action films indeed. Awesome fight scene, lots of blood, weapons and excellent choreography. Gotta love the Karambit fight!

Thanks for your reply

In the movie Man of Tai Chi (which Keanu directed), Reeves plays the main villain, and his weapon of choice is some tactical folder (I couldn't tell what make of folder). Oh, and his acting in Man of Tai Chi is UBER-CHEESEY.

He used an Emerson Horseman in Man of Tai Chi. Apparently Keanu is a real life Emerson fan, as he's been seen walking around in an Emerson t-shirt before.

For me John Wick Chapter 2 beats The Raid. It's just amazing. And yes John Wick carries what seems to be a Microtech Ultratech

I came to BF searching for this thread. from memory, I agree with your IDs of these blades.

Any thoughts of the knife fights in Wick 2?

I thought they are fairly realistic for a movie but a bit slow. At one point Common was getting up with his back to Wick and Wick just waited for this. :suspicion:
