Just got my first peek at my new 710 sheath for my BK-9. Will take some glamor-shots with my own stripped and polished knife when it gets here, but thought I'd share some sheath porn while I'm waitin'. You'll notice something new from JD on this one. I asked for a loop or some other idea of his for fashioning a leg-strap. I sent him a picture of something I made by cutting up an old guitar strap and scavenging a mounting strap off of a handlebar tool bag for my bike that wasn't being used, and cobbled it together for my BK21 sheath, also one by 710: JD apparently liked that idea, but took it to the next level, and here it is in all its Kydex, Kryptek, leather and 710 glory: More to come after it gets here, which I'm like a 6-year-old on Christmas Eve night waitin' for it! Blues
Well, the 710 sheath arrived this morning. It and another knife I bought off the Exchange caught the same truck out of Montgomery and rode the rest of the way down here to Dead Cell Holler together, so my new EDC (a Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner fixed blade) and the new sheath for my EFC (Every Forest Carry) BK9 were waitin' for me when I got home from a gorgeous morning's putt on the Harley. Didn't take any pics of the Benchmade, but here's some of the new sheath with my polished and convexed BK9, plus some shots of my other 710 sheaths with my other Beckers. Enjoy!
I have a set of micarta scales coming this week, which I think will make me like this knife even more!
Hey Kentwood how do you like the TKC scales? I have yet to actually use them, but the BK20 is ready to go!
Actually, I like them a lot, amazing grip, it'll be perfect if they issue'm with stainless hardware, that's the only con for me, but over all they cover the most important part, beside they make my 9 look awesome...BTW that's a good looking 20...congrats!!!
Are the TKC scales slimmer than the factory ones? I'd love to see a top down pic next to some factory ones to compare to!
Yes they're, but just a little bit, and the hardware is located differently, since they use only 2 instead the 3 on the factory scales, not a big deal... IMHO 3 is better...
I was wondering if 2 was enough to keep them from shifting. They look real nice though, but haven't heard any real world experience with them yet.
I don't believe shifting can be a issue, they included a couple pins in the hardware that work as they should, they feels pretty solid to me... If you decided to get a custom kydex sheath for those handles I think isn't gonna work that well with the factory ones...my two cents..
