Hi guys I have a becker bk 2 less than a year old. I’m going travelling to Australia for a year and I have an address I am staying at for the first month.

Do you know if it’s ok to post the knife in the original box for safety from uk to Australia? Do you recommend any couriers or advise to stay away from any?

I’ve seen some posts on here but all seem quite dated.

appreciate any help

If I were in a situation like that.

I’d buy a new one, have it delivered to the address I was staying at. then probably give it away at the end of my trip. Let the retailer deal with the shipping.

something to consider anyways. Enjoy your trip. Be safe.

I live in Australia and have never had a problem other than when customs thought folders I had bought were autos. Otherwise have been fine and never had a problem at all with buying fixed blades from overseas

I'd just find something new when you get there. Stores down under will have at more choices than the UK.

And of course Plan B would be to put it in your checked luggage.

Easy and cheapest option is to bring it with you in luggage. Customs would have no interest in a knife like that as long as it is clean (no blood, animal residue etc).
If you want to post then use whatever option your local post office provides. Again, importation at the Australian end won’t be a problem.
I had a few things come through from the UK and Italy recently without issue. The main problem at the moment is having stuff sent from the US. The drama there is at the US end. Europe seems fine.

Yeah headaches for sure. Australia Post has flat out closed to receiving international mail a few times recently.

I live in Queensland. I have never had a problem with import of any knife fixed or folder. Pretty much all are from the US though.
I have found the best and quickest from people who use FedEx as they don’t use Auspost once here. 7 days from the US at the start of this month. Any shipping that uses Auspost once it’s here I have found significantly longer through customs.
You could buy something local online here and if in stock could have it in a day or two area depending going by express post which is about $12 AUD.
