I envy the yewts that don't wear bifocals or glasses at all that can just toss on some safety glasses and a respirator and go.

With my bifocals it is always a fight to be safe and see well.

Anyone in the same boat and found some that is less fuss. I use the big 3m splash guard goggles that fit over the glasses and the 3m N95 masks

If you like those glasses - correct distance and everything, then get a pair of prescription safety glasses the same.

Best investment I've ever made. I have the double whammy of beard and glasses. Sometimes you can luck out on a breathe easy set up on ebay. I paid around 75 bucks for the set up with a gas mask style hood and upgraded to the nice helmet later.

I use a breathe-easy system and wear bifocals.

I modified the respirator by changing the air hose to a 10 foot long light weight vacuum hose. The blower unit just hangs on the wall behind me and I can walk about the grinder area without any problem. When not being worn, I set the hood on the bench next to the grinder. When I step up to the grinder, I pick it up, set it on my head, turn around and flip the switch on the battery, and go about all my tasks with This has made the task of wearing a respirator more often simpler and more automatic.
This was one of my smarter ideas.

I remember when most people either hated putting on their seat belts, or forgot about half the time. With time and repetition, we now automatically grab the belt when we sit down. The same goes for putting on a respirator. The simpler and easier it is to do - the more automatic it will become.

You can even get the progressive (gradient bifocals) lenses in safety goggles, although they're not cheap. I know this because I use leaded progressive safety goggles at work every day.

Still wear a face shield and respirator at the grinder, though.

I look like a Martian with all my stuff in place. Start out with oversize progressive glasses. Followed by mouth/nose respirator. A lighted OptiVisor after that. All capped off with a set of Peltor ear cups. My hearing aids let me answer the cell phone using Blue Tooth. A microphone is built into the hearing aids. The headphones have microphones, speakers, noise suppression, and a volume control.
I just have to be careful about stepping into the rain.

Better than mine, mine is like a sandblasting hood except made of tyvek with a helmet suspension inside. Has 40ft of hose with it. Left over from spraying epoxy primer.

Thanks guys,. The moon suit rigs are expensive but seem ideal. Just hope grit doesn't build up and scratch the face shield. Gotta change goggles every 3 months or so.

Getting an eye exam Thursday and will price the prescription glasses but if $$$ I'll stick with the cheap overlays for now.

my safety progressive bifocals are cheaper than lens in a "regular" frame. go figure. I get new progressive bifocal safety glasses lens thru walmart for about $100 a pair. they work fine for most jobs. I do put on a face shield or overglasses when doing some wood work.
