So I am sure you have all seen the clones of the Kershaw External Toggle (Kershaw E.T.)
They are a cheap chinese knockoff and they fall apart, I have one and do not like it - sadly I cannot afford to get the discontinued knife as the 3rd party sales are way too high for my current budget
While browsing amazon yesterday I saw this knife, the "Promithi Mechanical Knife Tanto Blade Folding Pocket Knife Skeleton Design with Sheath "

I just ordered it and I am hoping it will be better than the chinese rip offs that are not so great and while they are not a 100% clone they did rip off the system - this one seems to be closer in terms of the mechanism and actually has an end nob to actuate the blade system - have any of you used this knife before? It is probably also made in china and is cheap so I am not holding my breath but am crossing my fingers that this design has been improved as china has been increasing the quality of their budget friendly knives for the past couple years.
If you have used it can you tell me your experience with it? If not would anybody like me to post a review on it, giving detail on if it is just as bad as the others or if it is worth buying if you want a system like the ET but don't have like 500 to 1000$ dollars to drop on a used one.

Here is an image of the new ET knock off that I just ordered

$500-1000? You need to up your Googlefoo. Just searched and found a few listing, some active some old. They might be rare and hard to find but they can be found for around half (+ or - some) of your low end estimate.

Food for thought, more times than not you get what you pay for. I don't see this going against that rule of thumb.

Ps. Amazon is not a paid dealer here so you are not allowed to post links to their sales.

Good hunting!

For 9.99 it probably is a Chinese ripoff that's not so great. If you're going to buy a clone, don't look for advice on clones here. Ten dollar tacticool knives generally dull fast and fall apart. Basically you are getting a piece of junk. The best thing you can do is send it back for a refund or scrap it as once you put it to heavy use it will probably fall apart and maybe cut you, assuming the blade is sharp enough to cut.

Interesting that as soon as QTRMSTR licenses the design from G&G Hawk, cheap Chinese clones pop up.

Very interesting...

Oh I don't expect much from such a cheap knife, I am just hoping that it is better than the older clone - I like to have unique mechanisms. Prefer the original, but I can satiate my function of knife fiddling addiction with this for now, the older clone breaks almost instantly.

Last time I was on ebay checking for them the buy it now range was around that price range (give or take 100) and I quoted that from memory - but I just checked and the higher end prices are no longer there - is is cradling 300-500 at the buy it now section. There is a bid for a Snap On version but I don't usually hit bids unless I can snipe them.

Here are a couple of Bladeforums rules to keep in mind.
