I have a couple of antique brushes and would love to know how to make them look new. At least I'd like to know how to keep them in proper condition.
Any information will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I seem to recall reading something about giving them a bath in white vinegar to get the accumulated soap out of them, can't remember where exactly but on this forum. You need to watch that stuff on some bone or wood handles though....

Apart from thorough rinsing and drying, hanging upside down etc I like to give my Badgers an airing, put them on the window sill/balcony outside for a couple of hours on a warm sunny day.

i have several and think it's the best and cheapest way to shave. My elders taught me this, hang after every use, avoid high temp water direct to badger , clean using only white vinegar, a simple dip in a small cup, avoid over cleaning, never touch the badger with your hands, beavers love it. However touching can deposit oil on the badg. and always pre soak your soap disc. aids in not rubbing soap too hard and flatting the top of badg. last never, never use any heat to dry the brush in any form, including direct sunlight, this leds to cracks in the handle.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the tips!
