Are the protech godfather series good knives? Also what does mirror polished mean.

Would anyone recommend something instead?

Thanks alot

better suited for the auto forum.....

But yes, the Pro-tech Godfather is a wonderful knife. The smaller Godson model is great too. Hard snap, strong spring, and great fit and finish. Pro-Tech is one hell of a knife company.

Oh and mirror polished means just that. The blade is buffed on a wheel loaded with a compound until it has a high lustre and acts as a mirrior. Some of the Godfather models are bead blasted, and have a dull non reflective finish.

If you really want a mirror finish on the knife, then yeah. Trying to do it yourself probably means alot of hand sanding and dangerous buffing which requires you to take the knife apart, voiding the warranty. Also, the DIY results could turn out to be undesireable.

It would easily cost 50 bucks or more to have an experienced person do this. If you want the mirrored finish, go ahead and pay the extra money. I personally like the bead blasted finish. Looks nice.

Protech godfathers are great knives and Dave, the owner of Protech, is a great guy. Get one and enjoy.

wow $50 for the mirror finish?? didnt know it was that much.

i have a polished godfather with carbon fibre handles, pretty darned cool knife, i really prefer the OTF microtechs though, after i got my makora and scarab i never play with my GF anymore, hardly.

but all in all they are good knives and have an excellent warranty too.

still like the MT OTF's better though, and if i was gonna carry an auto like that i would prefer a MT SOCOM elite vs the protechs.

as good as the PT's are, i just like the MT's better i suppose.

this is a tear jerking story. i'll make it short. upon the breakup of a long-term relationship, my significate other gave me this knife. it was a quick release panic blade... a pro-tech, I think. something was different about it from other pro-tech knives. instead of having a centered push button. it was to the side. aprx. 6in long when erected.. partally serrated. veined handle with clip, all in metal. no colors, no markings, nothing. just a beautiful blade. 5 years later. i misplace it at work. i set up a reward complete with drawings... i offered whomever found it... i would buy THEM a brand new knife, in exchange for my old one. i'm known for having this knife. it's like a 5th appendage to me. i need to find a replica. thru research i have found... its a expensive knife.. i'm frugal.. but i'd be willing to spend more than double to aquire a clone of it again. if anyone can send me info or pics of knives they think it might be... i'd be grateful... very gratful... i'm sure at least one of you knows how this feels. thanks.
