Im wanting to get a pry bar instead of using the drivers on my leatherman and i definitely dont want to use a blade. So what do you recommend as a good, fairly cheap pry bar. Thanks!

Size the pry bar for the job at hand. I have pry bars that run from 6" long to 4 feet long. One usually works.

Not sure if you are asking about a knife or not. If knife, the Kabar BK-2 comes to mind.

i want one that is about 4 inches

Pry bar...not a knife so we're off to Gadgets & Gear.

Vaughan Mini Pry Bar. For a full-sized pry bar check out the Estwing I-beam pry bar.

There is a thread about this already right now.

For your price, I would go with the Boker VAT if you want more of a long straight prybar, or for more function the TT Pocket Tools Chopper.

I just ordered one of the Chopper's myself. ;)

I think a person could dig around in their garage junk or the local pawn shop and find a flat piece of hardened steel, then work it over with a grinder and/or cutoff tool to create a small pry bar. I have an old cheap wood chisel, cut the handle off and that would make a pry bar about 3.5" long. I also have a couple of thin wrenches stamped from flat metal, the kind that you get when you buy a cheap power tool or whatever. I think I could cut off one of those and make a nice light pry bar out of it. Actually I've seen small pry bars at places like HomeDepot. If you wanted to carry one of those in your pocket you would probably still need to cut it down a little bit.

All these ideas, I need to do a little experimenting and make one for myself. It seems to me that 5" or 6" would be the shortest that would allow you to get good leverage with your hand, and that length would still be good for pocket carry.

I picked up a pry bar about 6" long at a flea market for .25. Cut it down to abut 3"and carry it on my keychain. Works fine. You can probalby find similar ones new at any large hardware shop for a buck or so. County Comm's stuff is rediculously overpriced + their $10 shippinc charge............

I carry a Pocketwrench II, in my pocket , along with my Leatherman Xe-6. Sometimes I carry it with my Wave in the factory belt pouch. Gives a decent ~4" pry tool and a variable wrench that works well with the pliers. Inexpensive too.

I cut down a vaughan mini to the length of a altoids tin (used to carry it ranger banded to my altoids tin fak) use a 3/16th masonary bit to drill a lanyard hole
