May have opened a box with it once.

Sorry, but that's a Puma Leather Hunter - not a White Hunter. Blade shape is different, Guard is different, and blade marking states Leather Hunter. As for pricing, you seem in the sweet spot, the last one I saw saw was in almost mint condition and went for $375. The Leather Hunter is discontinued.
 
Also no serrations on the Puma that are on the White Hunter. Nice looking knife.
