I tried to order a Microtech Hawk proof run from pvk vegas nearly a half a year ago and it was nothing but headaches. They cancelled my order once and wanted verification over the phone to confirm it was really me ordering fair enough. After giving them my card info and confirming the order over the phone they almost shipped me the wrong serial number and then somehow messed up inputting my payment info as after I contacted them later due to the order not shipping I was informed that it appeared I had attempted to pay in Bitcoin and that they had no payment methods on hand. So after 3 phone calls and multiple emails I finally got it resolved and decided to stick with DLT from now on.

Was wondering if anyone else had had this sort of experience from them. I know they are one of the larger dealers and it seemed odd but I wasn't sure if this was a normal occurrence as they have a knife I want but I am afraid of being burned again.

I was just in Vegas and tried to go to the store but it was closed for remodeling and you could only do online buying. Don’t know if there were/are other changes in the works.

I’ve ordered a handful of knives from them over the last few years and haven’t had any issues thankfully. That being said, their site is awful. Half of their carried brands aren’t even listed on their inventory drop down. E-commerce site design has never been easier or more accessible than it is today. Maybe I’m just hyper aware of design flaws being that I’m a software dev, but if you make it easier for me to find things on your site I’ll probably buy more things from you.

To be honest I've bought at least three knives from them in the last year and never really had a problem. Shipping is not fast, and the site is clunky, but there's one brand they get in stock seemingly way more often than everyone else. I just scored a Grail variant today... After waiting an average of four minutes for each page in the process to load. Never thought I'd be successful 42 minutes after the theoretical drop, but that's how badly the site was stressed. I just seem to have good luck with them.

That makes no sense at all. How could they have known you attempted to pay in BTC if they have no BTC wallet?

Paypal has recently started supporting cryptocurrency. Maybe when they checked out they accidentally picked their crypto wallet as the funding source for the transaction.

Paypal doesn't allow people to hold BTC in their own wallets, people own a "share" of BTC that PayPal holds in theirs.

Accordingly you can't send BTC to a wallet via PayPal. They convert any BTC holdings to fiat at the time of the transaction. Thus the retailer can't know if the transaction was funded at any point via BTC, they just see it as fiat when it hits on their end. Even if OP chose that as his funding source the retailer wouldn't know as the payment would be sent fiat.

FYI - don't buy crypto via PayPal. Terrible idea that obviates almost all of the advantages of holding it.

Excellent info, thanks for clarifying that for me!
