Hello,
Is there active makers from Quebec, or Canada? I know a few ones here on BF, but most of them seem to be inactive. Some only want to work with simple carbon steels. The easy found on google usually ask for a quite hefty quote. Are there any other makers small makers out there who fly under my radar?

Thank you.

Google Great Lakes Custom Knife Show and then click on exhibitors list. There's 30 or so Canadian knifemakers there. If you click on their name their websites or facebook page pops up and you can see examples of their work.

What style of knife are you seeking (kitchen, hunting/skinning, woodcraft, chopper, carving, fillet, etc)? Large, medium, small? Fixed blade or folder? What price range?

The answers to those questions can help direct the answers to your query. Good luck on your quest.

David Mary David Mary is very active on the forum. He has his own sub-forum on BF as well. He posts nearly daily, except Sundays. He's located outside of the Toronto area, between Montreal.

Steels I'm aware he's using in include: 8670, 15n20, AEB-L, Magnacut, and he's considering adding 3V in 2024.

I have worked with David many times. If he specializes in anything, I think it's that he does a really good job working with customers to bring their designs to life.

I try. I think it is important for both maker and customer to be able to communicate respectfully, professionally and efficiently with each other. Those initial discussions about the project should be used by the customer to express what is desired, and by the maker to disclose what they are willing and able to do. It's also a good time for both to see each other's communication style and tendencies and decide if it seems like working together will be a success.

Noah Vachon is located in Quebec. Helluva maker, does classes and stuff, too

I learn from it and move on. Thank you still.
