I was looking at my latest issue of Blade Magazine and noticed a full page add for Queen Cutlery. I was wondering if anyone knows who owns the brand now? I'm guessing that they are now another of the zombie brands shambling about with some investment company pulling the strings? I was really sad when they went under. Ken Daniels was a really great guy and incredibly generous to many children including my son.

Pretty sure SMKW bought the name and Cooper Cutlery bought most of the equipment.

FWIW, “New” Queen Cutlery has a handful of US made models available and they are pretty nice. The bulk are made in you-know-where.

It's interesting to see Queen Cutlery advertising again! While the brand did go under in 2018, it seems they've been revived. Smoky Mountain Knife Works (SMKW) appears to be behind the relaunch. They unveiled a new line of Queen knives in 2018, so the brand is likely in good hands with another established cutlery company.

I seem to recall that the US made Queen are made by Bear and Son, and have a premium for the name. If you like bear and son, then you will like them. The Chinese made ones seem to be made in the same factory Rough Rider.
Both ranges seem decent.

It is a just a brand name that can be used on any knife SMKW wants to.

They both have no relationship to the old Queen, though the old Queen went through a few brand owners too, so...

Thanks for the feedback. It's about what I thought. There's a slight twist in that it's an American company that bought the name but it has little in common with the original except for the name. I've never been all that impressed with Bear and Son and I don't buy Chinese knives. Ah well.

Sad to see the change. I have a handful of the older Queen slip joints that were offered with D2 blade steel. Great knives...

Bought this one a when they brought back USA production. Just wanted to check the quality. It functions well enough and it's pretty with all that polish but both blades are slightly off center.
