ok I saw in another post here....where a guy posted all the queen/queen city tang stamp pic....I recent saw where a guy on another site was selling a 2009 queen..it had a tang stamp incursive just like the one in the thread below....that actually dates it to 1925-1945...but I somehow think something is wrong here..it sure isn't priced like its a early 1900 knife...

here is an example of a knife.....nd also the tang pics

That Chart is fairy dated now, I believe the Gunstock in the picture to be of late manufacture and the Tang Stamp reproduced ( from the early original )- probably after the above Tang StampChart was released?

That Gunstock pattern knife was made as a special factory order (SFO) for Collectorknives in 2009.

To add to what's been said above, Queen recently came out with a Queen City line of knives that feature that tang stamp that you're asking about. Some of them also have QCCC stamped on their shield just like the 1930-1932 stamp from your chart. If you go to their site you can see that Queen City is part of their regular catalog:
http://queencutlery.com/Queen_City.html

I know that Case has done similar things where they've released lines that repeat old tang stamps and even old patterns for the packaging. This is where Levine's saying of "read the knife" comes into play.

Queen City mark was resurrected a few years ago. As bdev stated, the knives were SFO; limited number in each run IIRC. Some of the other patterns were carried by a very small group of dealers.

thanks for the info guys.....this makes it very confusing...ive also just been looking on the big auction site..and there are a few there with the tang stamp that would date them to 1922-1932...and they look brand new...im sure they are repro's as well..why do these companies make it difficult?

lol Jack...my apologies my friend....that was meant to say fairly :o

I did think about a SFO but wondered if the tools for stamping may have pushed the price up - but obviously used on other Tangs?
I have see the other Queen City Stamps that Cory has mentioned  ( mailman must be soon now Cory  )

It's funny I just stumbled on this I was researching a modern Queen Stag medium Stockman with D2 blades and I'm confused because the shield is the modern style with the blade making the tail of the Q but the gang stamp is the 32 early 50s stamp.

It's there a more up to date chart or is the one I see everywhere the most current chart?

I'm looking at 3 of my D2 Queens (#49 Cattle King stockman, Country Cousin, #92 C.S.B. fixed blade). For the tang stamps, they all have a 'sideways Q' with the crown (and not using the 'knife' in the tail of the 'Q'; though the shield on the stockman does use it). The 'sideways Q' is over the 'TITUSVILLE, PA' mark, with 'PH-D2' under that. I'm sort of assuming that's the standard mark for the D2 knives.

The chart listed earlier does seem to leave it open-ended though, with no apparent distinctions made past 1984 or so.

Yes every Queen D2 knife has that tang stamp, the PH stands for Peters Heat Treat, the company that does the heat treat for Queen. Queen introduced D2 in 2002 and as far as I know that stamp has been used consistently on the D2 knives since then.
