Right now I wear a sterile Maratac had it for a long time starting to lose its Lum. Been looking around for a new watch and this Citizen caught my eye. Anybody own the brand and what do you guys think of Citizen?

Ive owned a Citizen Eco drive for about 5 years now and it is the best watch I've ever owned.
Insanely scratch resistant and no need to worry about batteries because it runs on any form of light.
Tritium glows bright in the dark and I havent had to service the watch whatsoever.
For the money you can't go wrong with citizen

Citizen and Seiko Solar are really great watches. I find the mineral glass in Seiko to be much more scratch resistant, but both brands are amazing value for money.

Mine has a white face and it's excellent, keeps very accurate time, and even though I don't like big watches it wears nicely.

Thanks whetrock that pic helps a lot not a fan of big watches but that looks manageable.

I've bought 2 eco drives. 1 for an ex about 13-ish years ago, and 1 for myself about 7 years ago. She broke hers in about 2 weeks. The chronograph in mine quit working the 2nd day. I won't buy another.

There are many Citizen fans here. I own a few of their cheap automatic watches and I like them. They hand wind. Their lume is not as good as Seiko's, but the newer ones are pretty close. Too bad Citizen is leaving these product lines behind.

I've had this eco drive for about 6 weeks now and it's been great. It's very accurate, solar powered, decent lume and I like the style.

I love mine and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Had this one just about 10 years now. All titanium, official 2003 Stars & Stripes America's Cup edition. Called the Sail Hawk model. I have worn this while racing professionally for most of those ten years, I use all the functions as well.

This pic was shot a couple months ago, only sent it once about 6 years ago because I put a nasty scratch across the crystal, fully covered and they cleaned it all up, polished the band and everything.

Citizen is a popular brand among watch enthusiasts. They make quartz watches, automatic watches, and their movements are used in a lot of other brands of watches.

The Eco-drive is an interesting technology but has as many problems as it eliminates. I have owned 3 of them and they work better for someone that will wear them every day than they do for a watch collector. They need fairly continuous life to keep them in good health, despite the statistics that Citizen claims for power reserve. If you wear the watch frequently, it gets plenty of light. If you put it in a drawer and only wear it occasionally, even though Citizen states that this is OK, it will harm its life. There are numerous repair shops on the internet that will repair your eco-drive, and they state that the average eco-drive battery will last between 5 and 10 years, and costs about $100 to replace. My cheap quartz watches might require a new battery every 12 months but I can buy the batteries at the drug store for under $5 and replace them myself. My Luminox has a battery that will last up to $7, and I can replace it myself too.

I am on my 4th eco-drive and I've had problems with 3 of them. But I still like some of their designs and my current Eco-drive is one of my favorite watches.l

My Father has been collecting watches for about 40 years now, the first "nicer" watch he gave me was a citizen eco-drive. It's been going strong for about 6 years now beside one hiccup. I think that for the money, an eco drive from Citizen is probably one of the best investments if you do not want to be bothered by battery changes, winding, or cleaning.

The only problem I ever encountered was with my date and day marker, which would get stuck from time to time. i consulted my Father and found out that if you change those items when the hour is between (roughly) 9-3, it interferes with the way the mechanism works, and will sometimes cause a catch up of gears. Being said, this is a problem remedied by letting the piece run for a day without touching the crown.

I absolutely love Citizen Watches...Only complaint I've had to date is that the rotating bezel on my Skyhawk A-T Blue Angels is extremely hard to turn. Sent it in to them for repair and they basically made up a bunch of excuses, supposedly denied the ongoing known issue that a lot of us have, supposedly replaced/cleaned it, for it to come back with the same issue. Otherwise I love them, especially the ecodrive system.

I bought an eco-drive in 2003 and have worn it almost every day since. It keeps amazingly accurate time. My only gripe is that the second position on the crown to adjust the date separately quit functioning pretty early on but that is just a minor annoyance.

I would rather hard to turn than spins easily !
My Ecozilla (big chunky titanium ecodrive dive watch) is back with citizen australia haveing its bezel looked at now - hopefully it ahould be back, and fixed next week.

I love my Ecozilla - other than the easy to turn bezel (which has been there since i bought it, but i have only just sent it in to be looked at as the warranty ends soon) its accurate (reliably +3 seconds a month) easy to read day or night, and glows really well, the lume lasts all night

And for a big watch (18mm thick) it is light (titanium and rubber strap) and super comfy to wear.
But if a watch deserved the title of "Bombproof" this would be it - the glass is 6mm (1/4") thick

Pics !

I would happily buy another citizen - but really like my Ecozilla - its stopped me collecting watches, as they dont get worn

Hey what size is your wrist, echo? The eco zilla is amazing but my wrists are fairly small. Most Japanese divers wear pretty well on my wrist but this watch looks big.
