Question about new Swisschamp packaging

Received a new Swisschamp today. It came in the newer non slide out box with no paperwork. Is this the norm ? Actually, I ordered two from two different merchants. The first came in the slide out box with brochure, the second came in the newer box and no paperwork/brochure. Both new in box. One advertised as “old packaging”. Bought another Swisschamp to give a gift, as well as, a couple of Explorers over the last few years. They all came in the newer box, but I can’t remember if they came with the brochures or not.

I ordered a lot of Swiss army knives and many didnt come with brochures, if youre secretly worried that it may be a counterfeit I'm unaware of any counterfeit swisschamps but dont ultimately quote me on that one. However I've never received a sliding box from victorinox but I think the packaging may change depending on the model.

A lot of companies do different packaging for different markets. I know for a fact that some brands like Civivi and Gerber (and even Victorinox) have blister packaging for store displays, like Tractor Supply or Walmart, but if you order the exact same model on BHQ, you'll get it in a slide-out box instead. Some girl did a video on youtube about it a while ago, I'll see if I can dig it out for you.

If you're concerned about it being a counterfeit, take a lot of close-up pictures of the tool (all angles, all blades open, all stamps), and the packaging and post it here under the title "I think this may be counterfeit". The crowd here will be all over it like a duck on a Junebug.

Edit: Found the video...

Thank you for the response and vid link. I compared it to my other Swisschamps and there are no differences that I can tell. Fit and finish is excellent. All correct featurss and tools. Only difference is the box and lack of paperwork. These two are my 5th and 6th Swisschamp purchases.

You're welcome! If you can't tell any differences, then the new tool is very likely legit. Even the BEST of counterfeits have noticeable differences when held up against the real deal. You'd be able to tell. I'm pretty confident that your new tool is just fine and perfectly genuine.

Edit: And don't worry about the missing paperwork. One time I got a Spyderco from DLT without the obligatory Spyderco sticker. I called them up, bitched, and they sent me a few stickers. 😂 Sometimes Golden Colorado USA Earth forgets things. If it can happen to Spyderco, it can certainly happen to Victorinox. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Very much appreciate the feedback.
You got it, bud. Anytime!

EDIT: One final thought: Most of these companies don't make their own packaging. In fact, I doubt ANY of them do. They outsource it local printing/packaging companies. Some of the bigger companies (like Vic) probably use a few packaging companies for their packaging, and each of those companies is going to have variations, mistakes, etc. So that's just something else to consider.

I ordered numerous times off amazon. Most came in a carton box with papers. Some without papers. They all look genuine.
I’m aware of chinese copies, but those are easy to tell apart based on fit/finish and lack of proper stamping.

Quote from a Swisschamp review I found from a customer on Amazon from 2022...

"Others have complained about the cheap packaging, thinking this meant a possible counterfeit or something else wrong with the product. I ordered over a year ago this same item with red scales directly from Victorinox off their website (that one is in use elsewhere), and the packaging is the same - just a snug-fitting little box; no manual or anything else fancy. They used to supply manuals, but most items don't come with them anymore."

Boxes are an after-thought for an item meant and intended to be used, I throw all mine out. People who collect knives and dont use them are more nit-picky about boxes
