With a quick Google search I found this in an old thread here.

Btw in the thread it was said the steel took and held a razor edge pretty well.

Sekiryu is a house brand of Ozawa Swords. Their kitchen knives are generally economically priced models usually found in "Home Centers" in Japan, the equivalent of Home Depot/Lowes in the U.S. Actually makers such as Kai and Yaxell offer a low priced line that is commonly sold in the same places as well. Sekiryu uses 420j2, SK5, Aus8, and VG10 for their top line. Your Usuba KN180 is SK5, which stands for "Steel Kougu" which literally translates to "tool steel". The maker represents your knife/series as SK5 with an HRC of 60-63, a Ho handle (Japanese Magnolia) and a plastic bolster. While not as nice as real Water Buffalo Horn, plastic bolsters are common on lower priced wa-bouchous and don't have any effect on performance. While SK5 may not have the fans that White/Blue Paper have, it is a very good carbon steel that holds it's edge well.
