Are the stock plastic mora sheath's form fitting along the blade, or tight only on the handle to allow air to circulate around the blade?

Tight on the handle on my Mora companion. I think it is a good sheath and knife combination.

What they said, air is able to circulate, and none I have owned have rattled either.

Air and fluid can circulate around the blade, that's why there's a tiny hole at one end for drainage.

Despite the hootin' and hollerin', it's a very functional sheath. Very easy to live with in use.

My Mora Companion HD secures on the handle while the blade hangs loose, almost to the point of rattling.

Generally friction secured by the throat...
Functional, but not without some carry gripes.
Some sheaths have thin leather strip belt loops secured by 2 rivets.
Others are integral moulded opened mouthed slip-in clip on-belt loops.

Heat the mouth of the sheath with a hair drier, squeeze it a little and hold it there while running the sheath under cold water to cool it. Your tension will now be tighter and you won't have that problem.

Not sure why it is--probably minor warping of the plastic when cooling out of the mold or something, but once in a while a sheath will fit a little loose. The above trick takes care of it.

My Mora Companion fits tightly (securely) into the plastic sheath. My Mora 2000 is a loose fit and will drop out if you turn the sheath upside down. So, there is some variation. My Mora Scout knife has a thin leather sheath and obviously the knife is secure with a strap and snap.

Good suggestion 42 on fixing my loose fitting Mora 2000.

All of my Mora sheaths (5 of them) fit snugly and do not rattle. None shake lose either.

It is not necessarily a pretty sheath (the Bushcraft Black Survival is nice), but it is chemical resistant, durable, replaceable, and keeps you and the blade safe.
