Howdy guys,

I took my cryo apart to stonewash the handles. This is the first assisted blade Ive had so when I was disassembling it I was being very careful, I didnt know if their were compressed parts or not.

When I got the handles apart it came apart quite quickly, and didnt quite see how it was put together. When I went to assemble it I noticed it actually had a couple more washers than I thought.

I think I got it figured out for the most part. The black (Nylon?) washer goes under the plate for the torsion bar and the other 3 washers go on the other side correct? Im just not sure what order ect.

I got it together with no bladeplay ect. but its horribly off center. Maybe one of the bronze washers go on the side of the torsion bar?

I figured theres got to be someone whos had theirs apart.

Thanks guys

I am curious as well I got one of these for my girl a while back and honestly if she ever decides to take it apart I will probably have to put it back together. For future reference if you have the knife open (blade deployed) when disassembling a kershaw speedsafe knife, then nothing is under compression.

another thing is, the way I have it together now if you shake the knife something is rattling. Which isnt a big deal to me just want to make sure its together properly ect.

I think it's two on each side . . with the nylon washer being on one side of the blade and the metal washer with the most wear on the other side . . I'm not positive though and i can't find my cryo to check. I'm sure someone will chime in soon with the right answer though.

Thank you hudson, that is one possibility I was thinking. But in the utube video posted in this thread only shows the black washer on the one side. Maybe Ill just take the time to troubleshoot it, if I cant get a definite answer.

Thanks bud

Besides the issues getting it back together, how did the stonewashing turn out? Do you have any way of getting some pics up?

I just popped mine apart again to look. I figured I needed to get the lint out of it anyway.

Start disassembly with the blade open, so you have no tension on the spring. The order of parts in mine is: Locking scale, copper washer, nylon washer, blade, brass washer, torsion bar / plate, flat scale.

Hope this helps, but it almost sounds like we've got a different set of parts. Perhaps the extra washer is the one that goes on the lockbar stabilizer?

Turned out OK ill try and get some pictures. Its very faint, kinda like on the 056x's. I like it more than stock though.

See when I took it apart I know I saw the nylon washer under the torsion plate and it shows in the video previously posted in the thread. who knows?

I did play around with it last night and got it back together fine. Not sure if its the exact right way but everything is gravy with it.

The washer for the stabilizer is teeny tiny

EDIT: maybe I got a spare washer of mine mixed up in the parts? But I got all 4 washers in the knife is everything is good with it

I just took my brand new Cryo apart and looked at it. The way mine is put togeather is - while looking at the knife from the spine side (back?) right to left was 1. locking scale 2. silver colored washer 3. brass washer 4. blade 5. brass washer 6. plastic washer 7. torsion plate 8. torsion bar 9. plain scale

In other words, the four washers were next to the blade. With the brass washers contacting each side of the blade and the plastic washer contacting the torsion plate. The silver colored washer was contacting the locking scale.

I put it back togeather and it works great with no rattles.
