Questions on identifying my new Scallion

I just bought a new Speed-Safe Scallion, and after searching for it on the web, I can't find the color/markings compared to all the other websites and color/marking offerings of other Scallions. It has a flat black blade with some type of coating, and black aluminum handles. The name Kershaw appears to be screen printed in outline form on the handle, in fairly large letters, almost the length of the handle. The flip side has "1620H3, KAI Patented, Design by Ken Onion, Made in the USA" on the blade right where it's supposed to be. The blade date stamp is November 06, also in the proper location. The belt clip runs almost the entire length of the handle, and has the outlined Kershaw name etched in it The box end says SCALLION 1620H3BOX, and the SKU number is 87171-16234.

I'm really impressed with this knife, especially for the price. It's small enough to fit in the watch pocket of my jeans, but the thumb studs are milled down into two separate step cuttings. This causes the knife to hang up in my pocket when taking it out.

Two questions: can anyone take a guess at what this model/production run is, and what, if anything, can be done to round off the ends of the milled cuts on the thumb studs making pocket removal easier?

I got it at wally world, in a box out of the case. Is this a wally world production run or some rare (I hope) hybrid?

Thanks,

riffraff, thanks for the find. I read with interest the review that stated "It has 3 small holes on the upper part of the blade, thus the ‘H3’ designation and apparently is not a common model." Mine also has the three holes, so perhaps I've stumbled across something unique!

While watching NCIS last night, I got the Sharpmaker back out and spent about 45 minutes working the blade.

This little knife now has one extremely sharp edge. I guess time will tell if it will hold an edge, but even if it doesn't (I'm not sure of the steel), it should touch up rather quickly.

I also worked the pocket clip, and it's very manageable now, but those damn two step machine cuts on the thumb studs has to be addressed somehow.

I'd like to hear Thomas W's comments as to what the exact history of this little razor's life has been.

Thanks again for the link.

Brad

Well unique in the fact that it was the only Scallion to have the 3 holes in the blade.
This Scallion variation was designed for Wal-Mart, and there were a lot of them produced. So not so rare of a find, but a good looker for sure.
