I am looking at the ZT0560 & ZT0301 models. I took the forums advice and contacted Dave Anderson "KershawGuy" about the factory sale, and am waiting for a reply. Can anyone tell me if the factory seconds have any type of warranty? Are all the blades marked with "XXXX"? Any boxes come with them? Are them blems just cosmetic flaws? Any help/replies would be welcomed.

belms will have the blade markes XXX and as a rule generally have no warranty unless otherwise stated...that being said, you will have to hear from dave re boxes......I just ordered an 0301 from him & will post pics once recieved...

I have a couple blur 'blems' ,they don't have a warranty, most defects are cosmetic which usually are hard to find.
My knives that I have work great, they are users so they do see a bit of use.Yes all the blades have the xxxx and I don't remember if they came with a box,I think not

I know that a very few amount of "blems" have been grabbed before they were marked with XXXX.

Blems are usually not a problem as long as you know how to sharpen since kershaw will send you replacement parts if you need them

Just out of curiosity, if the blade was NOT marked with XXXX, how would one know it was a blem? For example if I had a Blur purchased from the factory sale (a blem) but did not have the markings and something broke, how would Kershaw know it was a blem if I sent it in?

Sometimes they are blems because they are mismarked and that is how they know. Like the 1670TBLKs that should be 1670BLK.

Blems should all be marked with the XXXX. Any that are not carry our full warranty. Blems generally do not have boxes because as many of you saw at the sale last weekend - they are just bulk knives sitting out. We do not bother to put them through packaging.

As far as warranty goes, we will generally still sharpen them for you. We will also always send out minor parts like pocket clips, screws, and torsion bars. But if the knife ever breaks or needs a new blade or handle scale, these are not covered.

Hope that helps some.

I was about to ask this same question. I'll be placing a order with Dave for a 550 and was wondering what to expect. I don't really care about cosmetics, as this will be a user. I'm just hoping for something without mechanical issues.

Very helpful, as I have both blems and regulars, thanks!

Thank you... That answered my questions too.

Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure who grabbed the blems before they were marked with XXXX, I just knew that there were some out there that are like that.

There are always some that get missed, this year was the best I have seen for them being properly marked and last year was the worst, I had hundreds that were not marked last year, but I still sell them as blems, because they are supposed to be blems and they are discounted as blems. I guess what I am saying is that if the manufacturer sells it at a huge discount and accidentally did not get it marked, the proper thing to do is to still consider it a blem. Just Sayin

...And that is why we keep going back to Dave. :)

:thumbup:Your a stand up guy Dave, I can see why so many people on here recommend buying from you.

I have a couple of unmarked blems, including the 0560 I picked up saturday. They will be treated and purported as blems as long as I own them.

I have a few blems and on 2 of them I can't for the life of me find what the blem is.

Gotcha, I learn something new everyday. Nice to know also that you don't try to scam people with the unmarked blems. You're an honest guy that does the right thing and doesn't screw people over.
