Rare Benchmade 9050?

Just off the phone with Benchmade CS, as I thought this BM 9050 with NO safety, but WITH the pocket clip could possibly be a fake, or ?, as I couldn't find any information on line, at all.

Apparently, what I have is a rare (?) Gen 1.5 or 2 model, from the early years of the 9050? Dude on the phone (Justin?) says he is fully aware of what I have, and to NOT carry it (as I had planned to continue doing), but to put it back in its box and hold onto it....says he's personally never seen one of these.

Does anyone else have a 9050 sans safety? I want to beat it up and cut stuff, just put a razor-sharp edge on it!

Very strange that the clip doesn't have Benchmade stamped on it and no have never seen one without a safety. Is that a generic box? Did Benchmade tell you not to carry it because it had no safety or because it was rare?

Clip pic below.....he said I shouldn't carry it because it's rare. Told me to buy and carry a newer model. The box contains no paperwork, and doesn't show the model or any other info.

He said "very few", whatever that means.....said it was a transition model as they were working on perfecting it.

...and where did you find that???? You have a very early 9050 and it's not a fake. In the condition, VGC or better you have a prize. Choosing to use it or not is up to you, just know the rules and regs of Arizona to protect yourself. Congrats!

Cold it be a 9000 handle, with a newer 9050 blade and someone's drill-tap for the clip?

If you intend on selling it, yeah keep it in a safe. If not, use the damn thing! Congrats!

Possibly had a blade change. I have an older Pardue auto without the safety but the blade steel is ATS-34. I have a 2004 AFO in 154CM with the safety and that was the first year the AFOs had a satin finish blade in stead of the bead blast or matte finish. 154CM became the norm around 2000, replacing ATS-34. The pocket clip is also original but has been sanded to remove the black anodizing. Hope this helps. I'm an Old School Benchmade guy.:)
