Hi Blade Forums,
Selling my beautiful vintage WWII era US military Wardrobe Steamer Trunk. This is a very difficult to come by piece.
I am unsure of the actual manufacturer/brand of this trunk. I do see “CPO” within a diamond shape stamped into the metal near the lock.
This trunk’s exterior is constructed of aluminum and reinforced with steel on the corners. Every part appears to be original to this piece. Inside there are five wooden drawers, seven wooden hangers, and two built in canvas bags for storage.
All military markings and stickers have been left in as-found condition. At one point it was shipped from Nuremberg subarea back to Virginia with the name US Army Lt. Col. Stanley M Walker as the owner. And it also has a US Government Shipment sticker from New York and Bekins moving stickers. There are also markings that have been painted over but can still be made out in the right lighting from previous journeys this piece made in its past, including being shipped to Mrs. Walker.
Overall, this piece is in excellent condition for its age. That said, the latches are not perfect - there is no key/s to this piece and the main lock was forced open at one point, one of the latches still works and holds the unit closed but is slightly bent and the second latch is missing its upper part. The original leather handle is intact, but I would not recommend using it to lift the trunk now as it is quite worn. Unlike many trunks of this era, this piece does not have any major external damage such as cuts and dents.
Dimensions: 40’’ X 21.5’’ X 22.5’'. Also pictured next to US measuring sticks for your visual size reference.
PRICE: $1800
TERMS: I am located in Littleton, CO 80120.
POSTING THIS UP HERE TO GET THE WORD OUT - AND HOPEFULLY FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN MEET ME AT MY HOME TO PURCHASE IT IN PERSON FROM ME.
I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO SHIP THIS PIECE, BUT I WILL CONSIDER IT - BUYER WOULD NEED TO WORK DETAILS OUT VIA PM WITH ME.
