Which do you guys prefer? I like the looks of the ontario rat5, but ive heard nothing but outstanding reviews for the becker bk2 companion. They are both the same size and 1095 steel soo...

ESSE 5. The heat treat is a tad better. Search for the video of a guy that actually hammers a ESSE 5 into a BK2 and visa versa and the ESEE comes out on top. Not by a HUGE margin though but you can clearly see it won. In real life, I dont see how this would give one an advantage over the other in a "survival" situation but the test was interesting.

Being very biased towards beckers I will have to say becker bk2. I hate ESEE. The BK2 is a strong, capable knife in the woods

Interesting is the last thing I would call that video, a stupid and pointless waste of money and time is more like it. I have a rat 5 and I like it a lot, the bk has a better handle, I prefer the contoured scales. Both are great, flip a coin.

I would go with the becker. You can pick up a custom kydex sheeth with the money you save. I love both companies, but I think the BK2 is a better buy.

bk2, ontario scares me with thier 1095 ive seen too many improperly treated blades. i would save my money and go esee 5. its stronger better materials, better warentee, better looks imo, better fit and finish, better sheath, more pride of ownership. im no fanboy but i never heard anyone thats hates esee before now, there a great american company, and that puts them on a very small list of companies that are not destroying and deskilling the US and enslaving others for profit and political agenda. anyway bk2 or esee 5

People are confusing the rat 5 and esee 5

Yup - first reply is to thank for that. Sorry, but that's a pet peeve of mine. I'd like an A or a B and invariably, someone says C. Lol - anyway, for me, the answer is...
