Rawhide sheath prototype

So I saw Pabloturtle's thread on another forum where he made a rawhide liner for his sheath and it inspired me to try something I've been wanting to do for a while.
I thought it would be cool to make a rawhide sheath, not as a liner but as a sheath itself. I've seen examples of long hunter sheaths made with it and have always liked it.
I'm not into the primitive look at all usually but there's something about the rawhide that I like.
Anyway here's what I came up with.

The ones I do in the future will be the deep rectangular style for better retention. This one works but it's not ideal.
And I need to get some better rawhide. I used a dog chew toy for this one.

Im sure it will look better when it hasn't been chewed on by a dog!! I like it I bet a good rawhide will age really well and look awesome.

Pretty good idea Iz. I can just see the folks at the pet store when you keep buying out the chew toys....and they never see a dog.

heh. Yeah they probably think I'm making bombs or drugs with them.
I ordered a rawhide side though so no more dog bones for me.
I'm gonna try a couple of these in the next batch, we'll see how they turn out.:thumbup:
