I would like to list a few stand out unique games that only the touch and tilt controls can provide. There is a bunch of really great games, but I'd like to list a few of the very best the "App store" has to offer.

Frenzic- Simple to learn, very hard to master. Screen shots will not sell this game, just get it play it for 10 mins and you'll see what I'm talking about. Its been on my front screen for years  Its really a GREAT game!

Canabalt- another simple one button game, very fun, jumper game. try to run as far as you can while running faster and faster... platforming from one to the next.. very fast retro game

Tilt to Live- all Tilt controls, kill red dots with power ups, hard to get uber high scores. I play Code red the most (Code Red is a mode in the game)

The Impossible Game- Love it or hate it... I LOVE it, and beat it with flags pretty fast and am about 70% through without flags.

PewPew 2- Great double stick shooter, old school feel with great controls, just feels so right on the iphone. PewPew is free, check it out to see if its for you... PewPew 2 is much better IMHO

Galcon Labs and Galcon- This is one of the very best Iphone game out, do not look at the screen shots... JUST buy this, it will work your noodle and you can play real people via the internet play... Very fun, and can play your own music while playing.

Eliss- If Galcon and Galcon labs are great (and they are....) Eliss is even BETTER  Again screen shots do not do this game right, just buy it and thank me later

Angry Birds- A slingshot type of game, scoring three stars on every level will take forEVER..... A fun game to kill 5-10mins

Fantastic Contraption- Build contraptions to pass levels, very good workout for the mind

Quadrix- Mrs So-Lo's best game, I cant come close to her scores... Its a tile slider match four game, well worth its price and can play your own music.

:shift: - It's free!!! And just happens to be one of the BEST puzzle games for the iphone, just go download it now before they start charging for it again!

World Series Of Poker by glu- Single mode kind of blows! Its not bad, but online is where its at.

Whats on your must have iphone/ipod touch game list?

Here goes:

Guerilla Bob - two stick shooter that is great, with bosses at the end of each level.

Chaos Rings - fantasy role playing written exclusively for the iPhone.

Sword & Poker / Sword & Poker 2 - combines quasi fantasy role playing with poker. Great fun.

Aim & Fire - kill 5 minutes with this shooting game.

Myst - if you loved it when it was on the computer you'll dig the iPhone version.

Dungeon Hunter - fantasy role playing - hours of gameplay.

Westbang - Wild west style quick draw game with various opponents.

10 Pin Shuffle - like the old table bowling in the corner bar.

Redneck Fishing - quick play, but a lot of fun.

Hero of Sparta - fantasy role playing - more hours of fun.

Plants vs. Zombies - a "must have" and you can finally say you have a zombies game.

Doodle Jump - so many updates it is really worth it for another 5-10 minute time killer.

ATV Offroad - great 3D offroad 4 wheeler game.

Fishing Kings - lets you see under the water as the fish swim by. Really done well.

Mini Squadron - 2D flying / shootem up w/ many types of planes you can win.

I Dig It / I Dig It 2 - hunt underground for fossils and treasure - hours of game play.

Meteors - if you grew up loving Asteroids (I did) then you will want this remake on your phone.

N.O.V.A. - First Person shooter - great game.

Wild West Pinball - one of the best pinball games I played on the iPhone.

Harbor Master / Flight Control - use your finger to trace lines for either docking ships or landing planes. Speed and number of each tye increases as you go higher in level.

Any of the "Need for Speed" series.

These are just a few of my favorites - I could go on for hours.

I like the more console type games, like assasins creed and Call of duty: zombies

Peggle is nightmarishly addictive.

How could I forget Peggle? I'm on the last board, and have not wanted to finish it because the game it pretty much over.... I think unless there are new boards after the main mode?

Anyways, yes Peggle is great. Lots of skill and a little luck

OK a lot of luck too :D

I'm not sure if it's on the iphone version, but the challenges are where things really heat up. After that, try to clear all pegs on all levels to become an Extreme Grand Master of Peggle. And your mother-in-law said you'd never amount to anything:D

Two words for you gentlemen. Paper. Toss. Or maybe it's papertoss. Anywho, it's my second favourite after doodle jump.

I like tower defense games. I've tried quite a few and my favorites are Geodefense and Geodefense Swarm. They're not easy, but a lot of fun.

Other games I enjoy:

Plants vs Zombies - sort of like a tower defense
Meteor Blitz - like Asteroids
Field Runners - tower defense
Rise of Lost Empires - RTS like Warcraft and Starcraft
Fruit Ninja - slice flying fruits with your fingers

Crystal Cave, totally addicting puzzle game.
Words with Friends, Scrabble type game that you can play against friends on. And the free one is just fine with some ads.

Resident Evil Regeneration
Resident Evil 4
Silent Hill
Earthworm Jim
Street Fighter 4 (oh hell yeah!)
Amateur Surgeon
Bomberman 2
Doom Resurrection
Wolfenstein 3D
Duke Nukem 3D (granted the controls suck a bit)
Rise of the Triad
