Hello, guys.

So, my mother is going to visit Rome in september, and she asked me what did I want her to bring me. I immediately thought of asking for a nice blade, but she doesn't know how to appraise one, and I don't know of any italian knife names other than Maestro Livi.
I decided to turn out to my fellow knifemaniacs, and ask if someone know of a good italian knife
Does anybody know of any?

Zepp.

How about a Frank Beltrame stiletto?

Lionsteel is made in Italy and has some really nice models. Maybe she can grab a couple SR-1?

:)

As already stated, Lionsteel is a great Italian production company. I also believe that Maserin and Fox Cutlery are based in Maniaggo, Italy.

Ur mom will be welcome in my country, and she will sure find a blade that u will like :-)
Just one question...do u have any specific need or wish for this knife? cause u can find different styles of blades here. The main companies producing good quality knives here are mostly based in Maniago; among these are:
- Fox Cutlery (same company that sells knives in the US under the brands Fox Cutlery and FKMD but they do make many more models here so u might find knives u can't find there)
- Maserin
- Lionsteel
- Viper
- Fantoni
- Frank Beltrame
but, just like Sheffield in the UK or Solingen in Germany, there are many more.
Extrema Ratio is knid of a chapter of its own cause it's highly military oriented; they make strong solid and expensive knives.
If u are looking for more traditionally styled blades, many regiones have their own. I'm Sardinian and we have a very old tradition of folders usually known as resolzas or Pattada (which is the name of a small town with many talented knifemakers), handmade ones can be pretty expensive but if u like that style, I assume it can be worth it.
I guess u should decide some kind of budget and surf the internet, cause believe me, even in Rome it's not that easy to find a good knife shop and it might be expensive, so u better know what ur mom is buying. All those companies above have their website and catalog available so that might be a good start for ur Italian blade hunt.

Google Fox Knives Italy. I picked up a large knife that looked like a Bagwell mod to a Bowie from a special forces guy that bought it at Fort Bragg years ago. This was long before I started searching bushcraft forums. I have had it for years. It was stainless and holds an edge well. He said he used it in the jungle type enviroments in South America. It is well made. I had never heard of Fox knives before.

A very nice looking yet sturdy and affordable edc knife is the Lion Steel Opera. I recommend you to check it out.

Fox, Maserin, Falcon/AKC, and Frank B are all ones I have models from and all are well made.

got a viper damascus folding knife a couple weeks ago and it's very nice, solid lock up and zero blade play, very good quality

By the way...if ur mom is not that into knives, u might consider the option of buying the knife online here and have it delivered to any place ur mom will be staying at (hotel, private house, etc). This option could help u save some money (online dealers are usually cheaper); save ur mom the hunt for the knife (and even more of the knife shop), and be sure that she comes back from my country with something u want and like.
