So I want to give up carrying a folder and now carry a smaller fixed blade daily. Here is what I am looking for:

- Good blade steel (elmax, s30v, cpm154, d2, etc)
- Kydex sheath
- Around 6.5" total length (would like handle to be 3.5-4")
- Good handle material (g10, micarta, etc)
- no dagger styles or swedges
- USA made a +
-$150 or less

Becker BK-11, a set of after market scales in the material of your choice and a decent kydex upgrade is just a bit over $100.

If I were you, I’d contact David Mary David Mary , I’ve spent a good chunk on fixed blades in your size range from other makers. He built me the perfect edc fixed blade and it was in your price range. He’s known for his AEB-L but works with other steels

He’s also a real gem to communicate with, always quick to respond but he does not work(including messaging) on Holy days. Great guy, never met him.

He has a model in stock at a supporting dealer but it’s 7” OAL. David Mary River Hawk

ETA: He’s Canadian but don’t hold that against him 😉 also uses boltaron which 99% of people couldn’t tell the difference. David can tell you why he likes it better though.

I like that little EDC blade he made.

If USA and Kydex are a must, check out the Tops MSK 2.5. 6.13” OAL. 1095 steel with a scandivex edge. I find it to be a bit small in my hand but a fob fixed that.
Yea that handle is a tad too small and trying to stay away from a lanyard.

Most small knives come with smallish handles. You'd be surprised how well some of them work, though.
You could probably pick up a secondhand G3 for that price...may have to spring for your own kydex, though. I think I only have kydex for one of mine.

I had one of those at one point and the handle was just a little too small.

The Izula II as mentioned above, standard Izula with scale extension is super nice for a small fixed blade with S35VN (I love mine). As stated David Mary has some great designs and prices seem more than fair. L.T Wright has some great models. Brutalica Tsarap is a little bigger but nice for chores. So many choices but I agree about wanting enough handle. Good luck with your search.

I was a big fan of Blind Horse Knives before they split in two. As far as I know all of LTs knives come with leather sheaths. I am not looking to piece together what I want. The Izula would need scales and a new sheath though it is closer to what I'm looking for.

Another vote for checking out David Mary's stuff. That Prevail is what I've had my eye on lately but it may be out of the price range depending on steel choice. I've been using one of his smaller pocketable fixed blades a lot lately which has been super useful. 20221021_133625.jpg

The standard sheath with the Izula is not great, but adequate for my needs and the longer scales were not expensive and make for a very comfortable and usable grip. LT Wright does have some blades with kydex (like the Patriot at TKC), as well as make custom kydex so if there is something you really like, it might be worth dropping them an email to ask. Just a thought. I carry a Dozier slim outdoorsman frequently in horizontal kydex on my left front side which makes it very easy to access from all positions. I plan to get a blade from David Mary soon.
